Until The Ribbon Breaks Release New Album ‘Visitor’

The album is the act’s first full-length collection of new songs since their eponymous 2018 opus. Leading the way for ‘V I S I T O R’ is the simultaneous release of the sterling new track “HUMAN”.

The project arrives as Until the Ribbon Breaks are enjoying ardent support from several BBC radio stations, most notably BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Radio Wales. Among the many high-profile kudos that Until the Ribbon Breaks and Winfield have received was from Adam Walton of BBC Radio Wales, who proclaimed, “he’s one of the most remarkable artists that Wales has produced, sonically speaking, over the last decade and a half.”

Working within a hauntingly compelling electronic-pop framework, Until the Ribbon Breaks mastermind PETE LAWRIE WINFIELD built ‘V I S I T O R’ during what he describes as a period of “renewed emotional and creative clarity resulting from his hard-won sobriety. These songs were not originally intended to take the shape of an album. I simply started to write and record them out of a desire to recapture the joy of making music.”

‘V I S I T O R’ is a sonic renaissance that completes a trinity of the extraordinary previous collections ‘A Lesson Unlearnt’ (2015) and ‘Until the Ribbon Breaks’ (2018). The new project began to gradually unfold in April 2023 with the release of “Everything Else but Rain”, featuring harmonies by alt-pop doyennes Lucius. The track earned impassioned support on Zane Lowe’s highly influential Apple Music program, as well as winning nods from press including Rolling Stone.

The rest of 2023 saw the impact of several equally well-received singles, starting with the moody and atmospheric ‘Red Skies’, which paired Winfield with rising Colombian pop siren LaPardo. The two soon reunited for a hypnotically percussive re-imagination of the song, retitled “Cielos Rojos”. Autumn brought the anthemic “Nature Mother”, featuring Nashville singer/songwriter Emoni Watkins.

Adding to his momentum, Winfield recently teased material from V I S I T O R during a performance at this year’s hugely influential SXSW festival. “Playing SXSW was an incredibly special experience in a multitude of ways,” Winfield says. “Not only was it my first show in 5 years, but it was also my first show ever playing sober. To finally be present and share my art — and to not have that voice of doubt in my head was magnificent. It was so satisfying to just take my hands off the wheel and allow things to unfold as they may.”

Cormac Looby Releases New Single ‘Ordinary Woman’

Cormac Looby is a singer-songwriter from Co. Tipperary. He draws inspiration from a range of artists including Mick Flannery, Bell X1, Phoebe Bridgers and Sam Fender. Cormac combines elements of folk, pop, and rock; with introspective and honest song-writing.

Cormac’s debut single ‘I Don’t Need Your Love’ was released in 2020, independently amassing over 20,000 streams and featuring on BBC Introducing and RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends. This was followed up by his second single ‘Feel Good’ that same year. 2022 heralded the release of Cormac’s debut EP, ‘Things We Don’t Control’, recorded with a full live band at the Black Gate Studio, Galway. The singles taken from it, ‘Patriot’ and ‘Hard-wiring’ also featured on RTÉ Recommends and BBC Introducing respectively.

In support of the EP, Cormac and his band toured extensively, playing venues such as Fiddler’s Elbow London, Róisín Dubh Galway and two sold-out shows Upstairs at Dublin’s iconic venue, Whelan’s. They concluded the year with a headline gig in the Workman’s Cellar, Dublin and a hometown show in Cahir, Co. Tipperary.

In the intervening period, there have been two more singles; ‘Lobsters’ and ‘I Don’t Want To Let You Down’. In February 2023, Cormac was chosen as a nominee for the Irish Music Month ‘Local Hero’ with Radio Nova for the latter of these singles. That same year, he played the renowned Ruby Sessions in Dublin, sharing the stage with Bombay Bicycle Club, as well as supporting folk musicians David Keenan and Maria Kelly.

He’ll be sharing the stage with two of Ireland’s finest folk acts, Ye Vegabonds and Susan O’Neil.

2024 will see the release of his debut album; ‘A Perpetual State of Irony’. Consisting of ten brand-new tracks, Cormac and his live band have teamed up once more with the Black Gate Studio in his most ambitious and exciting project to date.

The first single off that album, ‘Angel Baby’ released in early May and picked up success with RTE Radio 1, Hot Press, Beat 102103, Pure Mzine, Unhappier, Corks Red FM, The Beat, Curious For Music, LMFM, RTE 2XM and many more.

‘Ordinary Woman’ finds its roots in a thought-provoking piece of graffiti Cormac stumbled upon during his time living in Galway: “Don’t be a fearful old crone, be a young Irish rebel.” This powerful statement sparked a creative journey, culminating in a tribute to the quiet courage exhibited every day by women, in the face of the constant threat of gender-based violence.

The track was recorded at Black Mountain Studios, Dundalk and at the Clinic, Dublin. It was mixed and produced by Liam King from the Black Gate Studio, Galway and mastered by Pete Maher Mastering (U2, The Killers, Damien Rice).

Since starting to release music independently through his label, Coke & Dagger RecordsOli has been featured multiple times on BBC Radio nationwide. Arrow In The Sky Release New Single ‘Time Of Need’

Arrow In The Sky are a dynamic duo of multi-instrumentalists, Conor McCauley and Brian Murphy, hailing from the heart of Ireland. Known for their unique sound, they have previously released two acclaimed mini-albums: Do What Thou Wilt (2009) and Winter’s Requiem (2011). Their songwriting partnership creates a distinct world of rapture and sorrow, blending traditional instruments with an unconventional approach.

Arrow In The Sky’s live performances are as captivating as their studio work, featuring looping guitars, blazing mandolins, and a suitcase turned bass drum. This innovative style has made them a favourite opening act for renowned Irish bands like Villagers, The Stunning, and Duke Special.

Their previous singles such as ‘Fire’ which has nearly 9k streams on Spotify, picked up support in the likes of Hot Press, Rolling Stone Spain and more and their single ‘My Sunshine’ has gathered nearly 16k streams on Spotify making the duo a hot one to watch!

Fans can also experience the song live as Arrow in the Sky at their upcoming gig in Clarke’s Mullingar on the 19th July.

Alt-folk duo band Arrow in the Sky proudly announces the release of their latest single, “Time Of Need,” a track that delves deep into themes of salvation, faith, and the human struggle with sin. The 3rd single from their forthcoming album showcases the band’s signature blend of lyrical depth and haunting melodies.

“Time Of Need” features a distinctive soundscape: a shimmering silver national guitar and bottleneck slide, resonating glass on steel through a busted up speaker cabinet, a wailing harmonica through a bullet mic.

The bassline, conjured from the foot pedals of a resurrected church organ, completes the unique musical experience known as Arrow in the Sky’s ‘bog-blues’. This foot-stomping track is reminiscent of the ‘Hill top Blues’ of Junior Kimbrough or R.L Burnside – perhaps if lost and wandering through a crossroads of Westmeath.

Conor McCauley, the band’s lead singer and a self-proclaimed atheist, clarifies that “Time Of Need” is not religious in its connotation but still explores themes of salvation and the possibility of redemption. McCauley emphasises that if redemption does exist then that in itself is a solace.

The band has once again collaborated with their friend Jason Cooper (The Cure/My Life Story). “We just let him rip,” says Brian Murphy. “He captured the vibe immediately. Initially, we thought it was a bit too Bonham, but then we decided, why not let him do his thing? And it was perfect” Brian laughs.

Liverpool blues rock band The Heavy North are set to release their first ever live album ‘Fire In The Furnace’ on Friday 2nd August recorded at the band’s hometown 12-piece band show at the Camp and Furnace in December 2023.

Formed in 2018, The Heavy North released their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Electric Soul Machine’ in 2022 and last year’s follow-up album ‘Delta Shakedown’ marked the band’s first UK Official Charts release.

The band is made up of frontman Kenny Stuart, guitarist and producer Jose Ibanez, bass player Andrew Horrocks, guitarist Jack Birch, keyboard player Ste Penn and drummer Mark Rice.

In recent years The Heavy North’s sound has caught the attention of BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, Classic Rock Magazine and Tim’s Twitter Listening Party – alongside legendary actor and new music champion Robert Carlyle describing the band as “Absolutely brilliant!”

The band’s hometown show at the Camp and Furnace last year saw The Heavy North perform tracks
from their two studio albums with a string quartet, a brass section and backing singers for their
biggest show to date.

As a preview to the upcoming live album and film, The Heavy North have already released two

gigs, a bit like the crowd we had at the Camp and Furnace show last year” said The Heavy North
frontman Kenny Stuart.

“We’ve had a lot of friends recommending us to other people and saying ‘these sound great, but you
need to see them live!’ so hopefully this live album will be a good introduction for new listeners”

The Heavy North have also announced the release of the full-length ‘Fire In The Furnace’ concert
film to accompany the upcoming debut live album.

Fans of the blues rock six-piece can watch the full 90-minute ‘Fire In The Furnace’ film at one of three

release the full-length video from the night too, and thanks to Jade and the team at Green Frog
Productions for capturing the whole 90-minute show for us”

“The film screenings will be a chance for our fans to come together and listen to our debut live album
ahead of the release whilst watching the tracks being performed on the big screen” added Kenny.

To celebrate the release of ‘Fire In The Furnace’ The Heavy North are also set to play two full band
