Twin City Release New Single ‘I Saw God’

Straight off the bat and with no preamble, Twin City quite simply put, are one of the UK’s most exciting Indie Rock ’n’ Roll bands on the music scene right now.

Based in Bristol and consisting of Welsh brothers Louis (Vocals/Guitar) and Toby Ellis (Drums), Conor Feeney (Bass), Pete Refson (Rhythm Guitar) and James Wilson (Lead Guitar). Twin City were formed in 2021 and wasted no time in releasing their debut single ‘Shake The Walls’ (August 2021) with an accompanying music video which gained instant traction receiving over 10k views on YouTube in its first week of release along with multiple airplays on BBC Radio and Amazing Radio UK & US.

The band’s second single ‘Looking Glass’ was released in May 2022 and was quickly picked as BBC Uploader’s ‘Big New Sound’ receiving a full week of prime time airplay on BBC radio.

2022 further saw Twin City release their self titled debut EP which contained 4 tracks including the previously mentioned single ‘Looking Glass’ plus 3 other tracks which further sought to build excitement amongst industry peers and fans alike.

Other notable timeline events include Twin City’s debut gig selling out in under 24 hours forcing a venue upgrade which also sold out 24 hours later and the band’s second ever gig being as main support to The Lathums in front of a 1000 strong sold out crowd at Bristol’s Trinity Centre.

Last year saw the band release their single – ‘I Feel Alive’ which caught the attention of industry peer and  leading figurehead, Rodney Bingehemier on Sirius XM in America.

Twin City followed this up with the single ‘Simple Melody’ at the end of last year which was championed by new music tastemakers This Feeling and John Kennedy on his Radio X radio show.

The band are now back with their first offering of 2025, the prophetically titled ‘I Saw God’.

Despite the name, we are told that the track doesn’t actually have any religious meaning behind it, but rather a more comical one.

The band explain:- “Despite the title, this track has absolutely nothing to do with religion. Our guitarist Pete slipped and fell down some stairs in a pub in Bristol called The Crown, and he winded himself so badly that he reckoned he saw God. We all found it hilarious, so we wrote a song about it.”

Musically the track is sonically charged with strumming electric guitars and a tight rhythm section on the drums keeping the pace moving along effortlessly throughout into those punchy, infectious chorus hooks and epic guitar solos. The chanting verses in the outro of “you’re living to the day you die, yeah I saw God – yeah come on and live it to the day you die i yeah I saw God” is a rousing anthem that suits the overall feel good vibe of the song with a meaningful message to live life to the fullest as life is too short.

‘I Saw God’ was written and composed collaboratively by Twin City and was recorded at Orchard Studios in Bristol and was Mixed & Mastered by Joe Marsh. The track is released on Bubblebrain Records.

With a string of sold out shows, festival appearances (including two separate stages at Isle Of Wight Festival 2024), and high profile support slots, including shows with The View, Twin Atlantic, The Royston Club, The K’s, The Coral, Bilk, The Lightning Seeds, Sea Power, Gallus and many more, Twin City are definitely a band worth keeping on your radar.

The band are due to play their biggest ever headline show to date with This Feeling at the Bristol Beacon on 4th April 2025. Tickets are on sale now.

Having recently signed to the ever expanding Bubblebrain Records, the band are now gearing up for their second release of the year with ‘Eskimo’

Liam says of the track:

“The track is  about relationships, ‘Eskimo’ is a nickname for an ex-girlfriend who had a parka with this big hood like an eskimo so I would call her my eskimo. Musically, it’s a bit more punk indie  than what we’ve released before with lots of heavy guitars!’

The lyrics go: “She said it’s all in my head and I can’t think straight. And she’s making it hard for me to concentrate. My feet are tired, my knees are weak and it’s getting cold, please stop making a scene, my little Eskimo.”

“Overall thought, I think it’s a reminder of how much technology has interfered with our ability to communicate on a human level.”

‘Eskimo’ is accompanied by a bonus B-side track of ‘Bad’ and it will be exclusively released by Bubblebrain Records and available to purchase now.

PREVIOUS PRESS ACCOLADES

“Jangly guitars and angled indie riffs. New North East ones to watch for sure” – Gigslutz

“A punked up assault of sound filled with lurking rhythms, crunchy guitars and snarling vocals. It exudes a wild untamable energy and has a chorus that packs some real punch, making the track a super satisfying rock n roll listen – NARC Magazine (I Love It)

“DAYZIES have already accompanied some big up and coming names in the grass roots scene on sold out shows so I reckon the Newcastle rock quartet have already drummed up a bit of noise for themselves. But if they haven’t this track should absolutely do the trick. –RMG magazine (I Love It)

This Is War Release New EP ‘Rotten’

This Is War! are the five piece Liverpool based band consisting of Paul Carden on vocals, Mike Mullard on Guitar and backing vocals, Jonny Roberts on guitar (Mike and Jonny swap between playing Lead and Rhythm on different tracks), Andy Williams on Bass and Martyn Leah on Drums.

Being seasoned musicians from other high profile bands such as The Black Velvets and Hurricane #1, This Is War! were formed in late 2021 and the band wasted no time in establishing themselves as one of the most hotly tipped bands in the UK right now. With an impressive 15k monthly followers on Spotify alone. This Is War! Have built up a solid and loyal fan base organically and predominantly through word of mouth and via their outstanding live performances, and through some pretty high profile fans like the football pundit Jamie Carragher, who has championed and promoted the band via his own social media channels.

Recently after being spotted and signed by the ever expanding Bubblebrain Records in Jersey, This Is War! are now gearing up for the release of their first EP.

The ‘Rotten EP’ is a collection of  5 tracks being:-

  1. Rotten
  2. No Pressure
  3. Waves
  4. Promised Land
  5. Mona Lisa (Acoustic Version)

The ‘Rotten EP’ acts as a perfect showcase for the band to highlight their skill and prowess as serious musicians. The tracks on the EP range from high energy edgy punk anthems to harmonious, melodic acoustic tracks.

The title track from the EP ‘Rotten’, opens up with a gentle guitar riff before thunderous pounding drums and edgy bass lines kick in giving a punk vibe to the track. The vocal is strong and emotive, and builds as the track progresses. It’s a powerful, energetic track with guitar riffs and solos really shining throughout.

‘No Pressure’ is a catchy track filled with melodic guitars and thundering drums. The vocals hit full force and the lyrics will have you hooked from the opening lines! The chorus is joyous and chanting and this is a track that is sure to go down a storm when performed live.

‘Waves’, is full of funky bass lines and drum beats, and the now signature TIW! big guitar riffs and solos. Vocally its full force,  leaving the listener feeling blown away by the power of it all.

‘Promised Land’ with its acoustic intro is a complete change of pace for the band. It’s full of harmonious melodies and vocally is extremely emotive. It’s a track that succinctly showcases the band’s diversity and varied skills.

‘Mona Lisa’, was originally released by the band back in 2022 as a full band version. This version has been reworked as an entirely acoustic track to really let the vocal magnificence of lead singer, Paul Carden shine through. This track although stripped back is probably one of the most impactful as it’s raw and honest and filled with a genuine emotion.

The ‘Rotten EP’ was mixed by The Verve’s Si Jones and sound engineer Andy Fernihough at Faktory Studios and the legendary Crash Studios.

This Is War!  have said of the EP:

“Dealing with the inspiration behind our music, the lyrics are confrontational yet hopeful  in their approach. As our world grows smaller with technology, we wanted to focus on the rights that every human should be given without oppression. Politics are corrupt, Capitalism is corrupt, uncontrolled power is corrupt, but through catchy melody and angst we hope to convey a memorable message. Television and Elvis Costello have been a big inspiration for This Is War musically, as have Lennon and Dylan lyrically. When the band all get together, we combine different influences and approaches to our music and the result is our own unique sound, that sound being  “This Is War.”

D.O.T.H.S return with their explosive new single – ‘Chancer’

D.O.T.H.S. more formally known as Death Of The High Street are the four piece alt-rock/punk band hailing from the Midlands consisting of  Scott Baxter on Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Ash Simpson on Bass, Andy Purves on Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals and Joe Hodges on Drums.

The band first burst onto the scene in 2020 with their debut single ‘EXIT’ which was released to much excitement and critical acclaim under Alan Mcgee’s label of the time ‘Its Creation Baby. The track received much praise and radio plays from the likes of Steve La Macq on his BBC6 Music Show, and Janice Long on her BBC Radio Wales show as well as many positive reviews and playlist inclusions.

The band’s bass driven, powerful drum beat, high octane riffs and lyrically intriguing kitchen sink commentary sound, means they produce a full throttle energetically, commanding, dominant presence. They possess a certain level of confidence that sees them not being afraid to use the platform of their music to create a stage for  political  and social awareness.

Following on from the success of ‘EXIT’ in 2021 D.O.T.H.S. first release of 2022, was the scathing social backlash of ‘SYNERGY’ which once again received much critical acclaim from the likes of KEXP DJ John Richard’s who picked the song as his ‘Song Of The Day’ and from BBC6 Music where the track made it onto the listener influenced ‘Introducing Mixtape’. The track also secured the band a place on taste-makers This Feeling ‘Ones To Watch’ list. The band have also enjoyed national radio play with  Mickey Bradley on BBC Radio Ulster  and Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio.

D.O.T.H.S. are now back with the latest instalment in their tantalising catalogue of powerful, thought provoking anthems.

‘CHANCER’, is an explosive, headbanging and yet somehow emotionally charged and insightful track. It leaps out of the starting gates and takes no prisoners as it zooms along at great pace with its buzzing, electrifying guitar riffs, pounding drums and snarling, realism  commentary. Coming in at 3.08 mins it’s a total powerhouse of a track from start to finish.

Lyrically the track shines a light on the sometimes-difficult reality facing individuals growing up in low-income areas with a lack of education and few job prospects, ultimately leading to a life of having to find ways to make ends meet.

Indeed the band have said of the track:

“‘CHANCER’ gives an insight into “a day in the life” of a Chancer, a Frank Gallagher meets Delboy character who’ll sell you a new TV just as soon as he’s lifted it from your living room. Ducking, diving and scheming his way through life. The second half of the track finds the Chancer alone, reflecting, thinking, about mistakes made and agonising over what could have been. CHANCER holds up a mirror to the parts of our society that are often ignored.”

D.O.T.H.S. have recently signed to Bubblebrain Records and CHANCER was recorded at Electric Bear Studios and was Produced by Death Of The High Street.
