Blue Foundation Release New Single ‘A Dreamer’s Dream’

New Blue Foundation song ‘A Dreamer’s Dream’ captures the connection with someone who shines like a star, burning brightly and wildly, filled with raw emotion and energy. Some people just glow—eyes deep and bright, their souls ancient. It’s a bond that feels like a past life, stronger than anything you’ve known. If you’re lucky, you’ll meet someone like that when you least expect it, and it can change everything.

Love is a wild force, tearing through silence like a train at night. The dreamer sees a figure with eyes that shine like stars, a fire that burns higher despite the rain, pulling the dreamer’s soul into the flames. The sky holds a star, burning brighter than the sun.

Recorded in Copenhagen, ‘A Dreamer’s Dream’ captures the feeling of a wild wind—a force—and the raw energy of playing together in a room, not just layering tracks. The song was written and recorded in the summer of 2024 in Nørrebro and with it the band announce the release of their brand new album ‘Close to the Knife’ for release on 18th April via KON Records.

The musical style of ‘A Dreamer’s Dream’ blends shoegaze, dream pop, and psychedelia, enhancing the raw energy of true love. Federico Ughi’s drums hit like a train breaking the silence at night—powerful, relentless, and driving the song with intense urgency and in contrast to the track’s reverb-drenched guitars and ethereal soundscapes. Helena Gao provides haunting backing vocals.

Founded in 2000 by Danish singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Tobias Wilner, the group was inspired by Mark E. Smith’s method of forming a band (The Fall), with Wilner recruiting a rotating lineup of traditional musicians over the years to fuel creativity. Since 2010, the core members of the band have been Tobias Wilner and Bo Rande, working between Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Blue Foundation is renowned for their distinctive fusion of electronic music and dream pop. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal nature of dream pop and a moody, introspective atmosphere, the band creates immersive soundscapes characterized by emotive vocals and intricate production. Their music often evokes a sense of melancholy and reflection, resonating with listeners who appreciate ambient, emotive melodies and introspective themes.

The band has released several well-received albums, including “Life of a Ghost”, “In My Mind I Am Free” and “Blood Moon”. These albums showcase their signature style and have cemented their reputation in the indie music scene. They have collaborated with a range of artists and producers, enriching their sound and expanding their reach within the music industry. Collaborators include Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Erika Spring (Au Revoir Simone), Findlay Brown, DJ Krush, Sara Savery, and Wang Wen.

Blue Foundation’s music has been featured in various popular films, such as Michael Mann’s “Miami Vice,” and TV shows like “The Vampire Diaries.” Their song “Eyes on Fire” gained significant fame after being included in the soundtrack of the movie “Twilight.” Blue Foundation is sampled by Lil Durk featuring French Montana on his track “Fly High” and Young Thug‘s song “She Noticed.” They co-wrote the song “Taurus” for Machine Gun Kelly.

“A Dreamer’s Dream” is mixed by Tobias Wilner and mastered by Francesco Donadello.

Blue Foundation’s forthcoming album ‘Close to the Knife’ is set to be released on the 18th of April via KON Records.

Mansfield Release New Single ‘Dreams Of Desire’

Danish indie band Mansfield invites the listener on a joyride with their new single ‘Dreams of Desire’  with its catchy chorus and guitar-driven sound, the song is energetic and uplifting from start to finish.

‘Dreams of Desire’ boldly indicates what is to be expected from Mansfield’s forthcoming album ‘For All the Right Reasons’ set for release in May 2024.

Since their debut album ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ in 2020, Mansfield has made a name for themselves by doing live shows in Denmark, England and Germany. Performing with artists such as Atomic Swing, The Peawees, All The Young and Marseille has helped Mansfield solidify their presence on the music scene and bring in new influences. With a clear nod to British indie rock tradition, Mansfield has developed their own distinct sound showing a high level of songwriting.

Radio stations around the world continue to play their singles from ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ and the EP ‘Come Rain or Shine’ released in 2023.

‘Dreams of Desire’ reveals a new side to Mansfield’s musical journey. The idea for the song came about after a memorable performance together with John Hassell, the bassist of The Libertines and the lead vocalist of The April Rainers, based in Denmark. Mansfield’s lead singer and songwriter Christian Stage reflects:

“I wanted to write a song inspired by the grittiness of The Libertines with distorted guitars that blend in with pounding drums and groovy bass lines. When I came up with a resonant lead guitar riff for the song, it took on a different shape making the music sound a bit like U2. The delay guitar sound lends the song an element of pop coinciding well with the emotional lyrics that express a yearning for intimacy.”

Lead guitarist Mathias Havelund adds;

“’Dreams of Desire’ was the final song that Christian wrote and brought to the studio during our recording sessions. We only recorded it a few times to capture its spontaneous vibe, and we can’t wait to share the energy with our listeners.”

Following the completion of ‘Dreams of Desire’, Mansfield performed at iconic London venue The Water Rats, known for hosting Bob Dylan‘s first UK concert and Oasis‘ London debut. The concert was a pivotal moment as the band’s first live performance of ‘Dreams of Desire’ was met with enthusiastic applause from both the audience and their British promoter.

Mansfield then decided to release the track as a single. Inspiration from the band’s London experience is seen in the music video featuring live footage from their recent show supporting British band All The Young in Copenhagen. The video encapsulates the electrifying ambiance of live performance, perfectly illustrating the single’s dynamic energy.

As with the band’s previous single ‘Someone Else’, this music video was produced by Andreas Valdemar.

‘Dreams of Desire’ was recorded at Black Tornado Studio in Copenhagen with producer Morten Bue overseeing production, mixing and mastering. The single is on all streaming platforms now via record label DME, paving the way for the album ‘For All the Right Reasons’ to hit both the digital and vinyl markets on May 17, 2024.

Mansfield Release New Single ‘Someone Else’

Danish indie quartet
Mansfield reveal a more emotional side to their songwriting on their latest single release; ‘Someone Else’. The song is about a lost and unrequited love and speaks directly to the listener with its relatable lyrics. With a catchy chorus and compelling melody lines, ‘Someone Else’ is a captivating ballad led by heartfelt vocals, acoustic guitars and orchestral strings.

Since releasing their debut album ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ in 2020, Mansfield have actively performed across Denmark, England and Germany, all the while diligently recording new material. ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ received 4- and 5-star reviews in Danish and international music press, and it was awarded ‘Album of the Week’ on Danish national radio, generating consecutive airplay ever since.

In 2023, Mansfield released their EP ‘Come Rain or Shine’ which was very well received and generated a lot of radio play in Denmark as well as internationally.

With ‘Someone Else’Mansfield are taking a step forward in their musical development by sharing their most personal and honest song to date. The acoustically led ballad features strings and groovy drums supporting lead singer Christian Stage’s intimate vocals.

As the songwriter of the band, Christian Stage explains:

“This song is not about bitterness or resentment. The idea for the lyrics comes from the realisation that love may hit you like a hammer, both in a positive and a negative way. But to understand and appreciate love, you sometimes need to get your fingers burnt.”

Drummer Filip Gulløv adds:

“Our hope is that listeners can connect with the lyrics, finding solace and inspiration. It’s a reminder that moving forward often means leaving the past behind, focusing on the brighter path ahead.”

The music video for ‘Someone Else’ illustrates the song lyrics in a black and white recording. Filmed in just one take with the band performing in the background, the video shows actors Celine Højbjerg and Jens Vinther in a moving and emotional dramatisation of the conflict. Video producer Andreas Valdemar’s portrayal of the song is both relatable and realistic.

Upon the release of ‘Someone Else’Mansfield will support British indie band All The Young in Copenhagen and Hamburg on February 17 and 18. All The Young paved the way for Mansfield’s recent performance in London with upcoming band Marseille. On their forthcoming album, Mansfield has once again teamed up with renowned Danish producer Morten Bue who has worked with Mew, Kashmir, José González and Tindersticks. Released by DME and available on all digital platforms on February 9th, ‘Someone Else’ is the first single to be taken from the album ‘For All the Right Reasons’ set for release on May 17th 2024.

Mansfield Release Their Single ‘The Sky’s In Love With You’

Danish indie rockers Mansfield are back with their second single this autumn. ‘The Sky’s in Love with You’ has an uplifting chorus carried by orchestral strings and a groovy drumbeat. This anthemic song pays homage to the mysterious wonder of love.

In September, Mansfield released their single ‘Chasing after You’ which was immediately put into rotation on Danish National Radio and has subsequently been played on several radio stations internationally. Especially UK radio has taken an interest in the band, as Mansfield’s musical style sounds “surprisingly more British than Scandinavian”, as Oxford-based radio DJ Paul Higgs puts it in an interview with lead singer Christian Stage. In ‘The Sky’s in Love with You’, the band demonstrates a novel experimental approach to sound and musical arrangements. Distorted guitars blend in with mellotrons and classical strings, while the lead vocal soars above the arrangement giving the song a psychedelic vibe.

‘The Sky’s in Love with You’ focuses on the enigmatic wonder of love and how it is essential to our longing for fulfilment in life. As implied by the title, the song lyrics contain imagery to express different aspects of the nature of love. To portray the song visually, Mansfield’s record label DME has given photographer Stinna Skrivergaard free rein to film and produce an imaginative music video. Colourful images, fantastical characters and masked dancers appear in a universe reminiscent of ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

Since the release of Mansfield’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’ in 2020, the band has performed in Denmark, England and Germany. Receiving both praise and good advice from English producer Paul Schroeder (Stone Roses, The Verve) in a recent collaboration, the band members have worked fervently on developing their sound as a contemporary rock band. DJ Laura Beth of Manchester’s Reclaimed Radio says of Mansfield’s latest single, “You can clearly hear the influence of British indie rock in their music, but their songwriting has its own unique sound.” ‘The Sky’s in Love with You’ is the second and final single before Mansfield’s forthcoming EP ‘Come Rain or Shine’ is released on February 3rd, 2023. ‘The Sky’s in Love with You’ was recorded at Black Tornado Studios, Copenhagen and produced by Morten Bue (Mew, Iceage, Tindersticks, Kashmir). The single is available now on all streaming platforms via record label DME.
