Marseille Release New Single ‘History’

Marseille enlist Wolf Alice producer for ambitious and downright ballsy indie-rock single ‘History’.

Marseille return with what is absolutely their best work to date, ‘History’. It’s heartfelt, ambitious, and in your face, it will be sure to be the focal point of any indie-rock playlist you have this year. The track has already secured airplay on BBC 6 Music’s ‘Indie Forever’ show as their ‘Indie-pendence Play’ and received praise from highly regarded music tastemakers The Line Of Best Fit as the band set to win over legions of new fans with this new tune.

Hailing from the depths of northern Derbyshire, the five-piece indie rock/shoegaze band have been making waves in the UK music scene, reviving a scene which never really died. At an average age of just 19, the group—featuring Will Brown (vocals), Joe Labram (lead guitar), Lennon Hall (guitar), Will Sabey (bass), and Tom Spray (drums) have already completed a successful UK tour, selling out 150-250 capacity venues.

Marseille have been busy laying down the foundations for an eye catching 2025 after 2 years of grafting, playing encapsulating shows and honing their sound. With the Oasis reunion this year and a new wave of Brit-pop set to sweep the country, it’s an exciting time for Marseille who carry a zero-fucks given swagger with waves of psych, groove and emotion moving through their tracks, making sure the audience never has a moment to lose interest.

‘History’ is a track that really tugs at the heartstrings, a song that is a love letter to the dreams we all had as children, being remembered as a legend of your era. But all the while having that big beat in your face swagger that Marseille naturally carries around wherever they go. A gorgeously well-crafted song which is most excellently brought to life by Wolf Alice’s producer Michael Smith.

On the track, singer Will Brown said, “History is a simple song which applies to any young person with big aspirations. It’s probably the most personal to us as a collective as we fit that criterion. We are 5 young lads that want our legacy to be remembered, and that is one of the most special things that anyone can ever write about.”

Over 2024 Marseille played some very notable shows such as the Quarry Stage at YNOT in front of 4,000 people, Isle Of Wight festival, Manchester Academy 2. They also supported The Twang at Leicester Academy and supported The Bluetones in Lancaster at the Kanteena.

The band have also received backing from clothing brand Pretty Green which is something both parties plan to build on in 2025.

‘History’ is out now via Echo Bass Records across all major streaming platforms & CD, with a 7” vinyl release to follow on 14th March.

These releases have served to highlight this band as well and truly being ones to watch, which has been further cemented with their extensive touring schedule and live performances to include both Y-Not and the Isle Of Wight Festivals.

‘SHE CAN FLY’  – Is harmonious and melodic. A certain love song that starts off slow and measured with gentle strumming guitars and a sense of soft romanticism that quickly gives way to the building of crashing drum rhythms and loud distorted guitars before ebbing away once more to allow the genteel nature of the delicate vocals to come into play, before the track takes a turn once more building into a euphoric crescendo with contrasting melodies and mesmerising guitar solos.

“IF IT HURTS DON’T CRY”  – Is heartfelt and a reflection on what could have been, before exploding into a euphoric, inspirational wall of guitars and strings. Elements of The Verve fused with the groove and elegance of the late 60’s Rolling Stones and a hint of attitude in the buildup of the track into its explosive end.

‘Godiva’ is out now on all streaming platforms via Bubblebrain Records.

Marseille started 2024 by being named as one of This Feeling’s “Big in 2024”  acts and performing as part of their showcase in Manchester.

Marseille shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon with gigs, festivals slots and tours already booked in for them throughout the year and with plans to release their ‘Godiva’ EP; 2024 is without doubt, going to be the year of Marseille.

The second single to be lifted from the upcoming EP is the harmonious and melodic ‘She Can Fly’.

Singer and songwriter Will Brown had this to say about the track:

“She Can Fly was bizarrely written so effortlessly for a song that’s so euphoric. It’s just that chorus that came to me when singing over some inversions on my guitar and the rest really wrote itself. A song about being visited by a girl with similar qualities to that of an angel, now that’s a topic for a song! Especially for an EP titled GODIVA.”

The ‘Godiva’ EP from the band is due for release later this year.

Marseille Release New Single ‘Monkey In The Middle’

Marseille are consistently upping their game with a determined intent to progress, they return with the release of their first single to be taken from their upcoming sophomore EP.

Marseille are the Derbyshire based five piece band consisting of Will Brown on Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Joe Labram on Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals, Lennon Hall on Rhythm Guitar/Backing Vocals, Felix Moxey on Bass and Tom Spray on Drums/Percussion.

Formed in 2021, the band have wasted no time in getting down to business showcasing an impressive momentum in releasing an envious array of hit singles to date to include the 2022 releases of ‘Forget It All’ ‘Might As Well Be Mine’ and ‘The Jungle’ including the Vega Rally Remix of the track and the b-side of ‘The Universe Is Yours’ and the 2023 releases of ‘Only Just Begun’ ‘Thinker’, ‘This Dream Of Mine’ and ‘Devil’s Gonna Get You’  all of which were received to much critical acclaim and support from the likes of Soccer AM, BBC Radio introducing, Steve La Macq on BBC Radio 6, John Kennedy on Radio X, Rodney Bingenheimer on Sirius XM Radio in America and online praise from industry legends and peers Shed Seven plus extensive reviews and features in the music press.

These releases have served to showcase this band as well and truly being ones to watch which has been further cemented with their live performances in 2023 at the famous Y-Not and Isle Of Wight Festivals. Marseille further undertook a 10 date, sell out UK tour in 2023 and they have recently played This Feeling’s “Big in 2024” showcase in Manchester.

Marseille shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon with gigs, festivals slots and tours already booked throughout the year and with plans to release their ‘Godiva’ EP; 2024 is going to be the year of Marseille

The first single to be lifted from the upcoming EP is the highly charged, shoegaze inspired masterpiece of ‘Monkey In The Middle’.

Having been a staple of the band’s live performances, fans have long called for this track to be released as a single and so the lads listened and went into the studio and recorded the track emulating all the swagger and energy that comes with their  live performance.

The track opens with a thunderous bassline and  an attention cry squeal from the guitar letting you know from the first 10 seconds that this track means business.

The smashing of drums kicks the track  into an almost hip-hop level of sound, yet played with the elegance and agility of Jazz. The roaring wall of rhythm guitars come in like a full blown storm all setting the scene for frontman Will Brown to take to the stage with his signature snarl and rasp.

The song grooves along until you’re taken out of the moment by a percussive interlude and the sonic fuzz from the guitars, when just like that, you’re dropped straight back in the fire with a razor sharp solo cutting straight in with the pitch perfect, defiant war cries of a young band who know who they are and where they are going.

Singer and songwriter Will Brown had this to say about the track:

“Monkey in The Middle is one of the older tracks in our repertoire, but despite how many songs have been cut from our set, this one has always remained. A song written about feeling like a performing ‘Monkey’ just to line someone else’s pockets, greedy people wanting you to no longer be yourselves, just to furnish their needs. Ultimately, it’s a track about staying true to yourself or you’ll forget who you are.”

These Wicked Rivers Release New Single ‘The Riverboat Man’

HIGHLY RATED BRITISH BLUES ROCKERS THESE WICKED RIVERS ANNOUNCE EXTENSIVE HEADLINE UK TOUR DATES AND LAUNCH NEW SINGLE ‘THE RIVERBOAT MAN’
Third single announced from forthcoming ‘Force of Nature’ album due March 1st.

Hotly tipped Derbyshire rock n’ rollers These Wicked Rivers have announced details of a new UK headline tour kicking off in May, as well as a third single, ‘The Riverboat Man’, taken from their highly anticipated new album ‘Force of Nature.’ The new track, is a barnstorming tale which celebrates the underdog spirit, and champions those who dare to be different.

‘The Riverboat Man’ is supported by a brand new video and sees the band continue the upward momentum generated by their recent December 2023 headline tour, which saw them sell out shows around the country and add yet more converts to the ever growing ‘Rivers Family’.

Vocalist/guitarist John Hartwell says of the new single: “On the surface it’s a story but, as always, it goes much deeper than that. Rich in metaphor, it explores the darkness and light within us all. It’s a blast to play live and it’s been great to see such positive audience reactions to it at our recent shows.”

Guitarist Arran Day is similarly excited about getting back on the road for the UK headline dates, which the band have dubbed the ‘Peace, Love & Lampshades Tour’: “‘The ‘Force of Nature’ tour was such a massive success for us in terms of getting out and playing for new faces in new places, so we really wanted to hit the road as soon as possible and do it all over again.  Fresh from the release of our second album ‘Force of Nature’ we’ll be bringing our signature stage show up and down the country, decorating each room as if it were 1974 and your nan’s just put the kettle on.
In times of greed, turmoil and darkness let yourselves escape by joining us for a celebration of peace, love and of course… lampshades.”

Collectively These Wicked Rivers are aiming for the top. Described by Classic Rock Magazine as “The sound of what might’ve happened if Clutch got a bit stoned with Audioslave and Zakk Wylde – and then jammed late into the night”, the band blend subtle blues touches with a hard rock edge, adding soulful vocals to create a sound that is as dramatic as it is exhilarating.

Preaching a simple gospel of ‘peace, love and lampshades’ (a reference to the bands intimate stage set up), These Wicked Rivers have toured the length and breadth of the UK with the likes of Hayseed Dixie, Those Damn Crows, Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons and Kira Mac, building a devoted fanbase and gaining new fans in every town and city they play. Now signed to the freshly minted Fat Earth Records label, the band are also setting their sights beyond the UK, with a debut European tour set for April
