Payola Release New Single ‘Pulse Jet Man’

London/ Essex based band Payola formed at the start of 2024, in The Argyll Arms pub just off of Oxford street with Dave Farley (Lead Vocals), Scott Forsyth (Lead Guitar), Matt Peel (Bass Guitar), Robbie Capel (Rhythm Guitar) and Craig Edmonds (Drums). They were drawn together and united through their shared love and passion for 60’s rock n’ roll, soul, 70’s punk, 90’s indie & Britpop music.

The band spent the best part of 2024 locking themselves away to furiously write and perfect their sound, with the single vision goal of releasing high-quality music coupled with a heightened desire to bring something fresh and exciting to the British guitar new music scene.

Putting their money where their mouth is, Payola more than proved their point with their first two releases. Their debut single, Born Out Of Frustration was released in August 2024, and is a song  that is full of swagger, driven by pounding bass lines and stunning guitar hooks.

The follow- up single, The Way It All Begins, once again is a full throttle, high octane belter full of hook laden guitar riffs and infectious rhythms.

Payola are now back with the hattrick in terms of single releases with ‘Pulse Jet  Man’

‘Pulse Jet Man’ from the very start is full of thrashing, pounding drums and distorted, fuzzing, snarling guitars. It’s a frenzy of electrifying sound that doesn’t let up throughout. There’s a certain urgency contained in the melody, the chorus hooks are anthemic and just as unrelenting. It’s a raw and powerful track befitting of a true rock and roll band.

Payola have said of the track:

“The idea behind Pulse Jet Man is that it is the persona you take on when you want to be something that you don’t think you can be.  It’s the person you want to see looking back in the mirror, not what the actual reflection portrays.

Be that a hero, a thief, a heartbreaker or an astronaut. Everyone has a bit of pulse jet in them. C’mon, c’mon.”

‘Pulse Jet Man’ was written and composed by Robbie, Craig, Scott, Matt with Craig and Dave adding in the lyrics. It was Recorded at Crunch Studios, Carshalton, Surrey and was Produced and Mixed by Alan Charles.

Abbey Moon Releases Debut Single ‘Friends of Mine’

Pssst. Are you looking for a new anthem? Something emotive and a little sentimental? Something that talks directly to you about good times with your squad? Well, look no further. Abbey Moon have got you covered.

‘Friends of Mine’ is the debut single from Abbey Moon, it’s a bit mod, nicely melodic, hooky AF, beautifully lyrical and is going to be getting the dial set to sun, fun and good times with good mates as summer is on its way!

Abbey Moon are a four piece from London, (three from Essex), each of the members have been in bands before, with two members coming from Cavalcade and two members being formerly in Sister Ray. But the guys have come together to form this whole new entity, just like when all the Power Rangers come together to form Megazord! Niall, Mick, Jack and Marco have combined, and just like Megazord, they are even more powerful and ready to battle the really big aliens and monsters. But that doesn’t explain how a debut single can be this good. There is definitely that little sprinkling of something special over the top, just a little ‘something something’ that elevates the single. The writing is superb, it is poetic yet relatable, talking about real life stuff we can all relate to. Friends of Mine was recorded with Michael Smith from RYP recordings who also has a bit of previous, working with the likes of Low Girl, Anteros, Wolf Alice and Elvis Costello. So, I guess, all of the key elements are here.

Previous experience in quality bands, adds up to a brilliant sound. Having this previous experience in bands goes part way to explaining how Abbey Moon have formed up Megazord style, each member bringing their individual Power Ranger abilities to produce this exceptional debut single, but I can’t wait to watch the Abbey Moon saga unfold, to see what’s next. I strongly suggest you get the song on your playlist, learn the words, and get ready to sing ‘Friends Of Mine’ at the top of your lungs this summer, hanging on to the mates that you only get to see at gigs and festivals, remembering the mates that can’t be there. Celebrating the best days, the best soundtrack, making the best memories. You don’t want to be the only one not singing along to this anthem!

Friends of Mine is available to stream now!
