Marseille Release New Single ‘History’

Marseille enlist Wolf Alice producer for ambitious and downright ballsy indie-rock single ‘History’.

Marseille return with what is absolutely their best work to date, ‘History’. It’s heartfelt, ambitious, and in your face, it will be sure to be the focal point of any indie-rock playlist you have this year. The track has already secured airplay on BBC 6 Music’s ‘Indie Forever’ show as their ‘Indie-pendence Play’ and received praise from highly regarded music tastemakers The Line Of Best Fit as the band set to win over legions of new fans with this new tune.

Hailing from the depths of northern Derbyshire, the five-piece indie rock/shoegaze band have been making waves in the UK music scene, reviving a scene which never really died. At an average age of just 19, the group—featuring Will Brown (vocals), Joe Labram (lead guitar), Lennon Hall (guitar), Will Sabey (bass), and Tom Spray (drums) have already completed a successful UK tour, selling out 150-250 capacity venues.

Marseille have been busy laying down the foundations for an eye catching 2025 after 2 years of grafting, playing encapsulating shows and honing their sound. With the Oasis reunion this year and a new wave of Brit-pop set to sweep the country, it’s an exciting time for Marseille who carry a zero-fucks given swagger with waves of psych, groove and emotion moving through their tracks, making sure the audience never has a moment to lose interest.

‘History’ is a track that really tugs at the heartstrings, a song that is a love letter to the dreams we all had as children, being remembered as a legend of your era. But all the while having that big beat in your face swagger that Marseille naturally carries around wherever they go. A gorgeously well-crafted song which is most excellently brought to life by Wolf Alice’s producer Michael Smith.

On the track, singer Will Brown said, “History is a simple song which applies to any young person with big aspirations. It’s probably the most personal to us as a collective as we fit that criterion. We are 5 young lads that want our legacy to be remembered, and that is one of the most special things that anyone can ever write about.”

Over 2024 Marseille played some very notable shows such as the Quarry Stage at YNOT in front of 4,000 people, Isle Of Wight festival, Manchester Academy 2. They also supported The Twang at Leicester Academy and supported The Bluetones in Lancaster at the Kanteena.

The band have also received backing from clothing brand Pretty Green which is something both parties plan to build on in 2025.

‘History’ is out now via Echo Bass Records across all major streaming platforms & CD, with a 7” vinyl release to follow on 14th March.

Marseille 2025 Single Launch Dates:

January 24th– Wax & Beans, Bury (In-Store + Signing)

January 29th– Dubrek Studios, Derby – Single Launch night

Sunwheel Release New Single ‘Northern Lights’

Sunwheel were formed in the heady days of the 90’s, a golden age of indie rock. Touring the university circuit and the London scene Sunwheel were known for their soaring ‘Verve like’ choruses and great musicianship. After the success of self-released three song CD ‘Your Empty Will’ in spring 1998, Sunwheel began to introduce new songs into the live set.

The new songs, crafted at a rehearsal space in Spondon, Derby, were inspired by the band’s collective appreciation of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s rock n roll music, and the then contemporary vibes the post- Britpop, Neo-psych, neo-prog and Triphop trio of The Verve, Radiohead and Portishead.

Three of the new songs were recorded at Rubber Biscuit studios in Nottingham and were released on the now mythical three song self-release tape ‘Recollections’.

One of those songs, ‘Northern Lights’ has lived on a CD ROM at Andy’s house (along with other demos) for 26 years, Until the band re-recorded it in June 2024.

Here is the brand-new version of ‘Northern Lights’, which like their inspiration, the Aurora Borealis, many people never guessed the song would be enjoyed by the masses 2024!

Indie Revolution’s Single Of The Week goes to Hazy Sundays with their great new track ‘Get Some’.

After the summer release of the bands debut EP ‘Give Me Some Dopamine’, Hazy Sundays return with a brand new single recorded at Gorbals Sound Studios in Glasgow, ‘Get Some’. The track is a triumphant return with the band sounding sonically better than ever before.

‘Get Some’ starts with an infectious guitar riff and building with some powerhouse drumming the song comes to life before giving you time to breathe in the verses before lifting again in the choruses. Singer Shaun Kenny sings the chorus about “Old time rock n roll” and the songs sound pings back to a time where guitar music fans would have their hands around their mates bouncing about. Indie Revolution Single Of The Week – The Avelons ‘Since Monday’

Indie Revolutions chosen single of the week is the sparkling ‘Since Monday’ by The Avelons.

With spine-tingling guitar riffs, and vocals that effortlessly captivate, the Newcastle-based indie rockers continue to propel themselves into a new era with this latest single, which carries a reminiscent sound.
An anthem inspired by an unforgettable encounter with a person who feels destined to be a huge part of your life, ‘Since Monday’ is the soundtrack to moments of pure euphoria and joy.

Wrapped up in this buzzy, jangly indie pop tune, it perfectly captures the intoxicating bliss of nights you wish could last forever. In his own words, lead singer Jack shares the meaning behind his lyrics: “Have you ever encountered someone and suddenly found yourself soaring on cloud nine, floating home with an idiotic grin and a belly full of fire? Well, Since Monday is that feeling.

It’s the euphoria of discovering that person, your person. Last week I couldn’t have given a sh**, but since that Monday, I want to give you my everything. Last week I couldn’t be bothered to go downstairs… but since that Monday, I’d go to the ends of the Earth to get to see you again.”

Fast carving out their own worthy place in the current indie scene, The Avelons have electrified audiences with sold-out shows and secured support slots alongside favoured bands like The Clause, Stanleys, and Tom A Smith. Having rocked their largest audience yet at The Cluny, they are now set to take the stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

Formed in the West Midlands during the latter part of 2020, Finding Bella are the five piece indie rock band consisting of Oli White on Vocals/Guitar, Simon Black on Guitar, Ben White on Keys/Synth/Vocals, Liam Hadfield on Bass and John Woodward on Drums.

From their very inception the band simply burst onto the Birmingham music scene, quickly gaining traction and fans by performing at iconic venues such as the O2 Academy and The Sunflower Lounge.

Releasing their debut single “Good Right Now” in February 2022 (42,572 Spotify streams) which was nominated for ‘Crags Radio Listeners Choice Single Of The Year’ the band released two further singles in the same year, “Set It Off” in July 2022 (45,933 spotify streams) & ‘Drama Kids’ in September 2022 which went onto win ‘Switch Radio’s Single of the Year 2022’. The band also came third in ‘Radio Wigwam’s Band Of The Year 2022 awards’.

2023 saw  the band continue on their upwards trajectory with the release of the first single ‘The Feeling’ from their upcoming EP ‘Bad Intentions’.

‘The Feeling’ with its melodic verses and echoing lead lines was a hit for the band gaining them airplay across the globe not only in the UK, but in France, Canada, America and Australia and praise from press such as:

“Don’t miss this chance to be part of the musical revolution brought to you by Finding Bella. Stay tuned, because greatness awaits!” – Babystep Magazine

Finding Bella are now gearing up for the second single to be released from their upcoming EP, the politically charge rousing anthem of ‘Albion’

‘Albion’ is a musical middle finger to establishment, offering a ‘matter of fact’ yet overdue commentary on life in Britain to a crowd that is already in agreement, comfortable in the knowledge that they are sharing the same experiences that the band are able to recite so fluently. Built-in references to political corruption, corporate greed, and social media influence within the song’s lyrics add a level of level-headed maturity to what could wrongly  be perceived as youthful insubordination.

Finding Bella’s equally built-up passion and frustration bursts throughout the track, pulling listeners in from its early kick drum beat, and gritty bassline. Raw guitar sounds build further authenticity to the track’s sound, supported by the meaningful lyrics that sound as if being shouted through a megaphone to a cheering crowd outside any  building of authority.

‘Albion’ was written collectively by the band and was mixed and produced by Ryan Pinson at RML Studios, Wolverhampton and Mastered by Andy Baldwin from Metropolis Mastering.

The debut EP from Finding Bella entitled ‘Bad Influences’ is a collection of five brand new tracks including ‘The Feeling’  and ‘Albion’ which is scheduled for release on the 29th September.
