Yon Mon Release Debut Single ‘Shine On’

Yon Mon is the exciting solo project from former The Shed Project frontman Roy Fletcher assisted by Danny Hayes bass player for The Jade.

Previously, Roy fronted the fantastic band The Shed Project which gained over 123,000 Spotify streams and an extremely loyal fanbase. Sadly the band decided to take a hiatus earlier this year much to everyone’s disappointment, which is testament to the great music they produced and the excellent gigs they put on. But now Roy has announced his solo project with the promise of plenty of music and potential live shows.

‘Shine on’ is upbeat, uplifting and it sparkles. It is bright and melodic, pure indie rock. It’s uplifting to hear Roy’s distinctive vocals once again. The man is full of sincerity and it comes through in his lyrics and music.

Their debut single ‘Shine On’ is out now and is available on all major digital platforms with an eagerly anticipated three more single releases and an album next summer.

Indie Revolution Single Of The Week – The Avelons ‘Since Monday’

Indie Revolutions chosen single of the week is the sparkling ‘Since Monday’ by The Avelons.

With spine-tingling guitar riffs, and vocals that effortlessly captivate, the Newcastle-based indie rockers continue to propel themselves into a new era with this latest single, which carries a reminiscent sound.
An anthem inspired by an unforgettable encounter with a person who feels destined to be a huge part of your life, ‘Since Monday’ is the soundtrack to moments of pure euphoria and joy.

Wrapped up in this buzzy, jangly indie pop tune, it perfectly captures the intoxicating bliss of nights you wish could last forever. In his own words, lead singer Jack shares the meaning behind his lyrics: “Have you ever encountered someone and suddenly found yourself soaring on cloud nine, floating home with an idiotic grin and a belly full of fire? Well, Since Monday is that feeling.

It’s the euphoria of discovering that person, your person. Last week I couldn’t have given a sh**, but since that Monday, I want to give you my everything. Last week I couldn’t be bothered to go downstairs… but since that Monday, I’d go to the ends of the Earth to get to see you again.”

Fast carving out their own worthy place in the current indie scene, The Avelons have electrified audiences with sold-out shows and secured support slots alongside favoured bands like The Clause, Stanleys, and Tom A Smith. Having rocked their largest audience yet at The Cluny, they are now set to take the stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

The Montagues Release New Single ‘I’ll Be Alright’

Hailing from the North Wales Coast, The Montagues are a five piece alternative/rock/indie band that deliver a layered, anthemic and melodic sound derived from a childhood of rubbing shoulders with holiday makers and day trippers from all over Britain.

Known for their driven melodies, powerful bass lines and infectious hook lines they literally embody everything people love in modern indie rock. It gives you nostalgic feelings of Kings Of Leon and their past summer releases.

I’ll Be Alright has high octane delivery, a force to be reckoned with. The chorus really makes the song come alive, it’s full of passion and emotion, melancholy almost and melodic to the end. The song has fantastic energy, one you can imagine hearing at a festival. It’s definitely a summer favourite!

The band consists of Jack Mayall (Guitarist), Jack Wells (Drummer), Oli Harman (Keys) and Kyle Parry (Vocals and guitar).

As heard on BBC Radio London, Paul Askew is a solo artist who writes, performs, arranges, and produces his own songs. Since starting to write from the age of 16 in 2017, he has managed to build up a vast collection of songs and counting.

As a result of his primary influences including the likes of The Strokes, The Beach Boys, Oasis, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and The La’s, he focuses on generating captivating melodies, artistic lyricism, and maintaining the traditional pop-rock sensibilities of the 60s. Nonetheless, his other inspirations -which range from the Sex Pistols to Clairo- mean his songs can range in a variety of styles, moods, and structures, all the while maintaining a gripping pop veneer which any listener can tune into easily.

FFredi Blino Releases New Album ‘Tarmac Roads and Fences’

Welsh/Aussie indie songster Ffredi Blino is back with a new bunch of melodies and whimsical notions. Following on from his lo-fi lockdown debut The Dishwasher Tapes, the new album features more acoustic, melodic vibes, at times straying into country folk territory but keeping the quirky indie heart beating. It’s all underpinned by the beautiful drum work of Sophie Wozencraft of Manchester’s The Deep Blue.
Singles include ‘Fruitfly’ – a funky love jam for insects, recently featured by Cerys Matthews as her show opener on BBC 6 Music; ‘L’ami de Jacques Renard’ – a surreal French jazz groove with a mind-bending video to match from director Izzy Rabey; and ‘Ffyrdd Tarmac a Ffenses’, aired on BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales.

Unusually, the album features two completely different versions of the same song. Title track ‘Tarmac Roads and Fences’ is a moody & moving contemplation on technology and separation from nature. However, for a BBC Radio Cymru live session, Ffredi decided to reinterpret the song in Welsh, resulting in opener ‘Ffyrdd Tarmac a Ffenses’

Mike Stoyanov Releases New Single ‘On My Side’

MIKE STOYANOV is a London based rising indie singer/songwriter who, bluntly speaking, knows how to put a banger of a  tune together!

The music he makes is a homage to proper good old fashioned rock and roll. Mike’s aim is simple, he makes music to make people feel alive. By combining influences from the likes of  Oasis, The Strokes and The Libertines, Mike creates a powerful explosion of raw energy that will make you want to jump around in wild abandonment and sing along at the top of your lungs.

As Mike himself puts it: “my sound just punches you in the face man, and forces you to submit.”

Mike’s debut single “Star” was released in February 2021 and has been described as “alternative rock with ALL CAPS ON” (ArtistRack) and “the first song you should play when you wake up” (The Sounds Won’t Stop).

The follow up single “No Regrets’ brought with it more of that loud, punchy and unapologetic rock n roll sound for which Mike is becoming known. The opening line of the track is a statement of what to expect as Mike announces: “I don’t know what it means to give up, if I get going I just won’t stop”

2022 saw Mike supporting British rock legends Toploader at the O2 Academy Islington and releasing his third  and fourth singles “One Night Stand”  and ‘Everything You Ever Wanted’ which both respectively received great feedback from radio and press alike across the globe.

Mike is now back with his latest offering in the form of his fifth solo single release ‘On My Side’’.

This new release sees Mike upping his game once more as he further cements the notion that he is a name to be taken seriously and one not to be forgotten.

‘On My Side’ is an almost instantly recognisable track from its opening strumming electric guitars through to its indie inspired melody. The vocals are a pure gravelly rock and roll joy to behold as the chorus hook is belted out “Are you even on my side baby?” mix in some rhythmic drum beats and a blistering guitar solo half way through and you’ve got a proper belter on your hands; this really could be a contender for one of the top tracks of the year!

Mike has said of the inspiration behind the track:

““On My Side” is a song about a girl that likes to play games with your heart. She’s hot then she’s cold, she would make you feel like you’re the one then she’ll act like you’re no one. Sometimes she drives you mad and sometimes you hate her but most of the time you just can’t help falling in love with her.”

‘On My Side’ was Recorded at Buffalo Studios, London and was Mixed and Produced by JB Pilon and was Mastered by John Davis at Metropolis Studios, London.

Shadow Bones ‘In Another Life’ Debut Album Review

Previously playing on the circuit in touring bands, Luke Williams has now gone solo, a project born of the pandemic. Hailing from Hampshire, Shadow Bones’ fantastic solo project of singer songwriter Luke Williams, has had a busy couple of years in the build up and release of his debut album ‘In Another Life’, which has gained a lot of attention from the likes of BBC Introducing and CLASH Magazine.

This beautifully written album is one that tells of Lukes demons and vulnerabilities through his sweet lyrics full of emotion. All the songs were written about a period of time in Luke’s early stages of alcohol recovery, which he talks about as being in another life.
His vocals are honest and raw, with songs like ‘Love Is A Reason’ that are deep and meaningful to the upbeat and dynamic ‘Over and Out’. This album is full of heart.

Of the album Luke says “Writing songs in lockdown was cathartic, a means of therapy. It transported me back to a dark period of time I had left behind when I was battling sobriety, in the early years of recovery. Being in lockdown gave me that time to reflect on life, what’s been, appreciate what you do have and what you don’t. I never thought a bag of pasta would mean so much to me”.

A must for all Indie/Americana Blues Rock fans, look out for upcoming gigs in 2023!

If you like Tom Petty, Ray Lamontagne or Ryan Adams then you will love Shadow Bones, check out his video below.

Live Review Of Muddy Elephant At The Live Rooms, Chester

I first met front man, Sam on my way home from a shift at work, after I’d stopped off to pick up a takeaway and we enthusiastically chatted about music whilst waiting for the food, he told me that he’d been trying to get a show at live rooms for a while, we exchanged socials and the next morning I checked out his band “Muddy Elephant” from simply a listen of their single “When in Rome” it’s obvious to see that this is a band destined for the fields of Reading and Leeds.

It has all the upbeat floorfiller vibes of bands such as ‘Catfish and the Bottlemen’ and ‘Two Door Cinema Club’ with a catchy hook that will undoubtedly have audiences screaming the words back at Sam. Needless to say I was surprised and elated when it was finally announced they’d be playing live rooms. My shock and awe continued when they were not only upgraded but managed to sell out the main room!

First on the bill for the night was ‘Match Fixing’ who started the night with a bang! With a sound that belongs on a Fifa soundtrack they had the audience engaged from the instant they got on stage. Next up was ‘Little Planets’, They had a brilliant pop sound with songs like ‘Circles’, they sounded exciting on the record and the sound really came to life live, closing the set with a cheeky little cover of Katy Perrys “California girls” were a treat to watch and need to be seen to be believed!

Muddy Elephant closed the night. It was incredible to see such a young and fresh band playing the main room within the venue, Sam absolutely controlled the crowd perfectly and the sight of friends and families beaming from ear to ear, crying with pride and singing back to him was truly a sight to behold from a local band. They could possibly be the next big thing.
