After spending 2023 on the live gigging circuit and in the studio perfecting their sound, the five piece released their first offering of 2024, the fan favourite, highly charged, explosive anthem of ‘Repeat After Me’ which received plays and praise from the likes of the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer on Sirus XM in America.
The band are now back with their brand new single ‘Just Another Monday’ – a track that explores the feeling of the mundane, Monday to Friday 9 – 5 working life and a need to escape.
The track starts off with a certain drudgery, and a feeling of plodding along on the treadmill with its social commentary in the lyricism, this is quickly replaced in the break with an absolute cacophony of sound, with crashing drums and snarling, fuzzing guitars succinctly epitomising the band’s high energy character for which they are known and loved. The now infamous rap in the mid section, really sets this band apart from their peers showcasing what a rare and unique talent they are.
There really isn’t another band like this on the scene right now, a rare gem indeed in these days of indie/britpop revival and punk bands galore and I for one am totally invested and here for it!
The band have said of the new track:
“Just Another Monday. Man, it gets boring. Just a song about that feeling of “here we go again”, the feeling you get on Sunday night when the dread of waking up tomorrow morning on Monday kicks in, working in a job you hate for a boss you despise and praying that the weekend comes around quickly. It’s something everyone and anyone can relate to!”
With an arsenal of new music already stacked in their locker, the band now have their sights set on further developing their unique sound, and taking their music to new audiences and new heights across the globe.
‘Just Another Monday’ was recorded, produced/mixed by Dan Lucas of Joplin House in Ashford, Kent and was mastered by Charlie Francis of Synergy Mastering.

‘Repeat After Me’ is nothing short of pure brilliance with its skilled spits and rhymes delivered at 100 miles an hour coupled with those rock sensibilities and contrasting second front man vocals adding layer upon layer to this rich musical tapestry. The drum beats keep the rhythm and vibe of the track throughout with some heavy, crashing skins and cymbals in the chorus, mixed together with some truly epic guitar riffs – ah, this track is a positive melting pot of influences coming together to make for something entirely fresh and undeniably exciting.
Having already been a staple and fan favourite in their gigging set, we know that this track absolutely goes off when performed live!
The band have said of the new track:
“The song was inspired by the old blues style of call & response, we wanted to create something that could be easily sung back to us by the crowd. The song is about being free from anything that is getting you down, be it your job, finances, the world, or the weekend’s football scores. Freedom from misery, that’s the idea.”

It is a reflection of the preparation and dedication the band have been putting into developing their sound and growing their fan base since the trio first hit the scene pre-Covid.
Hailing from Kent, Faded Shades are fronted by the charismatic Joe (singer/songwriter/guitarist) who is joined by Liam (bass) and Charlie (drums). Inspired by the likes of Paul Weller, Oasis & The Rolling Stones; Faded Shades present a refreshing, unique interpretation of modern rock n’ roll of which this latest release, ‘My Place (Or Your Place)’ is a perfect example.
Faded Shades tell tales of nights out and relationship breakdowns amidst small triumphs which are subjects many can relate to. They have an incredible following that packs out clubs across London and their debut album has racked up over 100k streams.
Sounding upbeat and altogether feelgood, ‘My Place (Or Your Place)’, lyrically the song is about falling in love with a girl you perhaps shouldn’t have but having zero regrets. Catchy and melodic, this latest track from Faded Shades is a shimmering delight; a crisp guitar tone and uptempo drums underpin Joe’s delightful vocal.

‘Mona Lisa’ is an absolute banger of a track with its seductive storyline and sexy little backbeats. Vocally Wez is allowed to shine showcasing his adaptability as a musician, putting him right up there with such greats as Oasis and Arctic Monkeys. Wez King is a diamond in the rough on the brink of undoubted stardom. The track ebbs and flows along at a pleasurable pace taking the listener on a journey that climaxes in a hedonistic parting shot.

THE GOODS GONE are the Kent based alt pop/rock/soul/blues duo consisting of Ryan Sams and Jake Blake. Together these two seasoned musicians are producing tracks that are not only next level in their sound, but in their multi-instrumental skill and thought provoking lyricism.
The twosome describe themselves as “two time travellers who collided in mid-air when they both arrived in 1987 at exactly the same moment. Ryan had travelled back to this particular year in order to see The La’s play live, whereas Jake had travelled forwards” such collision obviously resulted in a sonic boom that leads us to the here and present time and THE GOODS GONE.
To give you some perspective, the first time I saw this band perform live, their drummer had called off sick at the last minute so Ryan stepped up to the mark and simply took over the role of drums (with his feet) as well as playing lead guitar and performing lead vocals!! No mean feat at all I think you’ll agree. On this latest track Ryan is on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, drums and tambourine with Jake Blake on bass guitar, synths and backing vocals and they have also utilised good friend Zac Schulze, who guests on lead guitar. The result is an epic, highly measured and honed, pure musical delight.
The band have said of the track:-
“It’s a song with a simple message about chasing your dreams and never giving up until you achieve them – “you can do what you want to do, there’s nothing you can’t do!”
Musically the riff takes its inspiration from The Who (specifically ‘The Seeker’) as well as T. Rex (‘Children Of The Revolution,’ ‘Buick MacKane’ etc). The overall feel/groove of the track is like a modern version of The Who crossed with Reef, with a bit of Small Faces thrown in the middle 8 for good measure!”
‘I’ve Got A Fire’ was written by Ryan Sams and was recorded at Magpie Studios in Bethersden and was mixed and produced by Charles Creese.
ANOTHER DAY are the Kent based band made up of brothers Louis Hillier on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Jonte Hillier on Bass, cousin Charlie Kish on Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals along with friend and newest member Harley Drighton on Drums.
Although only in their teens, don’t be fooled by their age, these lads are seriously talented musicians and songwriters putting many of their older peers to shame. They deliver a tight and powerful musical punch. The songwriting skill of Louis is evidenced in his mature and relatable lyrics which are complemented by brother Jonte on bass and Harley on drums keeping time and rhythm to kick forth cousin Charlie’s scorching lead guitar riffs and hooks.
The band have only released one previous single to date, being their debut release of ‘Quicksand’ on the 27th October, but there’s already a real buzz surrounding these boys. They’re quickly becoming one of the must see live acts on the circuit. With Louis’ background as a world class freestyle trampoline athlete they’re connecting the dots between this new era of breakout rock and the extreme sports world. Their high octane live performances are electrifying and gravity defying in equal measure. Along with the incredible music being performed you can also expect to see scooters, bikes, skateboards and flips being pulled both on and off the stage!
There’s an indisputable and undeniable raw power to their live shows, which are fresh, authentic and exciting. It’s impressive that in such a relatively short space of time, Another Day have racked up an impressive array of gigs around the UK, including London, Bristol, Northampton, Hastings, Warwick, Birmingham, Brighton as well as in their home stomping ground in Kent.
The band’s debut single ‘Quicksand’ has been received to much critical acclaim too by the likes of Leo Ulph from BBC Uploading who said “This reminds me so much of Ash’s debut album 1977, in so many ways, so raw and visceral, riff laden, rasping vocals, great stuff!” From BBC Introducing Stephen Brown “A great band, and worth checking out…. They’re very much going places!” and Underground Sound who said “Really well put together indie rockers with bags of potential! Well written songs, great rhythmic elements and good stage presence!”
Given the full throttle attitude that this band possess by the bucketload, they’re wasting no time and are ready and raring to go with the release of their colossal follow-up single ‘The College Song’.
‘The College Song’ with its 90’s Britpop melodies and Grunge inspired vocals will whip you up into a frenzy and spin you around in delight. The tempo ebbs and flows, zooms up and then slows right down again as it changes direction throughout. Relaxed verses are balanced with powerful chorus hooks. This is a track that will most definitely keep you on your toes! As the crescendo builds and the lyrics chant “This is my time to shine” you’re drawn into that feeling and are carried along with the pounding drums and sonic guitar riffs into the notion that this is indeed ‘your time, the time is now and there’s no time to waste’! So, what are you waiting for? let loose and seize the moment that this track is offering on all levels!
Louis has said of the track:-
“After our first release Quicksand, which was a short and punchy tune, we wanted the second to build into something with real power. I found a chord progression that I hadn’t used before, which allowed for some great melodies to ride over. A relaxed vibe to the verse, and then an unexpected tempo change in the pre-chorus, launches you into a catchy, powerful main chorus with raging guitars and a bassline that follows the hook. We recorded the track live as well, which I think gives it loads of authentic energy.
The lyrics are pretty straight forward. It’s about being your own person and doing what the fuck you want!”
‘The College Song’ was recorded at The Libertines HQ, The Albion Rooms Studio in Margate and was mixed and engineered by Jason Stafford and mastered by Graham Waller.

And an interview with Stephen Brown on BBC Radio Kent.

As well as receiving praise on previous releases from the press such as RGM who said “… boots down the door and grabs your attention with tenacious force. Fuelled by adrenaline, with tight instrumentals to back it up, rip-roaring, no-nonsense rock…” and The Songbird “If this is a taste of things to come from the band, then grab your air guitars, get your place in the mosh pit and get ready to sing along. As this is definitely a band you want to catch in their early days.” and interviews inThe Moshville Times and RGM magazine.
Gig wise the band have recently played two of their biggest shows to date with Coach Party on their National Lottery Revive Live Tour and with Riskee and the Ridicule at their sold out headline show.
The band are now back with their self titled debut EP comprising of three tracks
Where’d You Go Baby
Past Time
I’ve Been Here
All three tracks on the EP are stand alone hits in their own right showcasing the band’s now known signature style of big riffs, catchy melodies and huge choruses. The lead single from the EP ‘Where’d You Go Baby’ is a straight of the bat, full throttle absolutely jam packed belter of post-punk perfection with its huge anthemic guitar riffs, pounding drums and infectious lyrics.
The band have said of the inspiration behind the track:
“Where’d You Go Baby’is a song written about the first time Jack met his now wife, Paige. She approached him in a club, pretty drunk and stated that if he “didn’t like The Smiths they couldn’t be friends”. They spent the night chatting and hanging out, only for Paige to reply slowly to text messages the next day, causing Jack to feel like he’d been blown out. 10 years later, I guess he was wrong. It’s a song about meeting that girl that you get the feels for instantly, and then not being able to get her off your mind.”
Next up, ‘Past Time’ is a sonically charged, melodic stomper with huge sing-a-long choruses that wouldn’t seem at all out of place being performed on a festival mainstage in front of thousands of adoring fans. ‘I’ve Been Here’ sees the band slow the pace ever so slightly and show a softer side lyrically whilst still managing to maintain that HUGE stadium sized sound backed up with rousing choruses, electrifying guitars and pounding drum solos.
As debut EP’s go this one by The King Rooks is right up there with the best with its level of musicianship, skill, expertise and perfection far outshining many bands who have been around a lot longer.
The King Rooks EP was a collaborative project between all band members and was mixed and produced by Dan Lucas at The Joplin House in Kent and was mastered by Charlie Francis of Synergy Mastering.
