Esme Bridie Releases New Single ‘Propranolol’

Experience Esme Bridie’s journey through anxiety transformed into a relatable, infectious pop anthem that resonates with anyone who’s faced similar struggles… PROPRANOLOL

Esme is a singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist from Liverpool. On the outside she may look like your average sweet girl, but Esme is a self-professed angry girl and this comes through in her newest songs. Esme creates raw and honest songs with intricate guitar lines and emotive vocals. In her live shows she draws audiences in with her touchingly personal style and entrances them with driving band arrangements.

Emerging indie-pop artist Esme Bridie has just released her latest single, “Propranolol”, a refreshingly honest and upbeat track that tackles an unexpected yet deeply relatable theme—anxiety relief. Far from your average love song, “Propranolol” is a heartfelt ode to the medication that helps many navigate the turbulent emotions of anxiety.

At its core, the song captures the intense highs and lows anxiety can bring, before delivering the sweet sense of relief that comes from finding something—or in this case, Propranolol—that provides calm amid the storm. With intricate guitar lines, a driving rhythm section, and Esme’s signature warm, earworm vocals, this track leaves a lasting impression on listeners, long after the final note fades.

Esme Bridie, known for her soulful songwriting and compelling lyricism, continues to break the mold with this new single. Her unique ability to blend introspective themes with an infectious, feel-good sound sets her apart, and “Propranolol” is no exception.

Esme released her debut EP ‘Something In Your Teeth’ in 2023. Which has gained support from New Music Friday UK, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing. Esme was also named one of the Unsigned Guides’ spotlight artists. Esme has gone on to play BBC Introducing’s showcase at the Cavern Club and Liverpool Celebrates in support of the Jacksons.

Previous releases from Esme Bridie have received plays from BBC 6 music with Tom Robinson and BBC Introducing, alongside plays and mentions on; Amazing Radio, Jazz FM, Bido Lito, Liverpool Noise, Get Into This and RGM.

Indie Revolution Album Of The Month – The Heavy North ‘Fire In The Furnace’

Indie Revolution’s Album Of The Month is Liverpool blues-rock band The Heavy North with their fantastic debut live album ‘Fire In The Furnace’. The band did a hometown 12-piece band show at the Camp and Furnace in December 2023.

Formed in 2018, The Heavy North released their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Electric Soul Machine’ in 2022 and last year’s follow-up album ‘Delta Shakedown’ marked the band’s first UK Official Charts release.

In recent years The Heavy North’s sound has caught the attention of BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, Classic Rock Magazine and Tim’s Twitter Listening Party – alongside legendary actor and new music champion Robert Carlyle describing the band as “Absolutely brilliant!”

The band’s hometown show at the Camp and Furnace last year saw The Heavy North perform tracks
from their two studio albums with a string quartet, a brass section and backing singers for their
biggest show to date. It was a show to remember! And now it is recorded on an album for all to hear.

The DSM IV Release New Single ‘White Wolf’

Formed and fronted by the magical and mystical Guy McKnight of the much revered and critically acclaimed cult favourite; The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. Created in Liverpool in 2019 the band have won over audiences all over the UK and Europe with their idiosyncratic musical character getting unsuspecting audiences hyped to hysteria with their strangely seductive,noise-rock, synth-pop industrial sound that delivers nothing short of a unique musical experience. Their music is cacophonous and epic, featuring rich textures and melodic hooks that keep listeners captivated and the band have proved themselves stadium worthy in their own right, following their tours with The Sleaford Mods and The Libertines.

The band’s album ‘NEW AGE PARANOIA’ seamlessly wove together stories, beats, guitars & noise in an inspiring collection of kaleidoscopic reflections about right & wrong, dark & light, joy & pain, sin & shame – all at once sobering & yet intoxicatingly dream filled.

The latest single to be released by the band ‘White Wolf’ is a sonic soundscape set to the tones of a vintage Roland organ interjected with an echoing tick tick reverb and gentle strumming guitars before front man Guy’s emotive vocals kick forth into the mix resulting in a dreamy, hypnotic and surreal journey of sound. The accompanying music video echoes this sentiment with the genius production of metamorphosing all of the band members into animated play-doh alter ego characters of their human form. The video shows the band “performing” the track with the background of a television wall depicting cinematic visions of a ballerina dancing before the screen dies – it’s both heavenly and somewhat dark keeping the viewer gripped to conclusion.

2024 has seen THE DSM IV igniting audiences around the country with their platoon of incendiary songs – an inimitable mix of electronic beats, bona fide rock n roll guitar, & lyrical story telling by lacerating observation. Unforgiving of abuses of power. Unconditional love for life. It seems like the media seeks to desensitise us to the worst in our natures. True Crime sells. Yet liberation is attained through performance & the dynamic exchange of audience & performer. Beyond confining expectations; societal, individual or otherwise.

In summary, The DSM IV are a band who create music with a message that resonates with people who feel that a kinder world is possible. Their songs are emotive and thought-provoking whilst being thoroughly entertaining at the same time.

Tonto Release New Single ‘Liverpool’

Kieran Fisher or the ‘Feesh’ as he is known has been kicking at the door of the big time for a while now supporting artists including The Snuts and The View’s Kyle Falconer on a number of dates. It’s not everyone who gets a personal invitation from Gerry Cinnamon to open for him but this is just what happened!

Seeking a bigger sound, Kieran recruited Lyle Finlay on lead guitar, Lewis Mcgrandles on bass and Jason Strachan on drums and TONTO was formed .

Both the band’s debut single ‘Down the Hatch’ and follow-up ‘Insider’ were named This Feeling/Gigslutz Track of the Day and received airplay in both the UK and USA whilst recent drops ‘Madame Medusa’ and ‘Yellow and Blues’ have got music industry insiders pretty excited.

On the live front TONTO have supported the likes of The Skinner Brothers, The Gulps and Rianne Downey and the band are now back and raring to go with their first single of 2024 the just over 2 ½ minutes of high octane, frenzied drumming and electrifying guitars of  ‘Liverpool’

‘Liverpool’ from start to finish will keep you on your toes. It’s straight out the gates taking no prisoners as it launches right into how it means to go on, fast and furious! With indie oozing lyrics depicting tales of Liverpool you’re taken on a journey through its famous streets.  With sudden breaks throughout, this track really engages and keeps your attention giving you a little mosh-pit breather, ready to kick it all off again and with the chanting outro of ‘It’s a long, long way to Liverpool’, we can see this track going down an absolute storm when performed live.

The band have said of the new track:-

“The track was written as Kieran often travels to Liverpool and fell in love with the city to the point he almost moved there. The tracks are all about learning from mistakes and coming out the other side in a positive way.”

‘Liverpool’ was written by Kieran Fisher and  was recorded with Mark Morrow in Leith.

Hazmat Release New Single ‘Pulling Away From Me’

HAZMAT are a dynamic grunge/dreamo band hailing from the dragons’ nest Wrexham, Wales but are currently based out of Liverpool. HAZMAT is composed of Iwan Douglas (vocals/rhythm guitar), Luca Visetti (lead guitar), Owen Brown (bass guitar) & Matt Birnie (drums). Drawing inspiration from the classic alternative sounds of the 90’s and infusing it with heavy shoegaze fuzz riffs, the HAZMAT blend creates a captivating and dark dreamscape. Having made a mark on numerous hot venues across the UK scene, HAZMAT has performed in multiple cities across the UK, captivating audiences who share their love for heavy & spacey noise.

HAZMAT’s release ‘Pulling Away From Me’ is the first of eagerly anticipated material from HAZMAT since 2022’s ‘DOOM’ EP. Moving towards a more melodic and ambient sound, Pulling Away From Me’ encapsulates and develops the established HAZMAT sound, with cavernous verses, intricate guitar layers and a gargantuan chorus. ‘Pulling Away From Me’ delivers a message of raw emotion, exposing feelings of being trapped inside a decaying relationship, allowing that person to fade away. The track came to life in Liverpool’s prestigious Motor Museum studio, produced by Ben Harper and mixed by industry heavyweight Al Groves (Bring Me The Horizon, Blanket, The Mysterines) The band’s partnership with Groves is a match made in heaven for this track, with Groves’ passion and ability for larger than life rock productions elevating the band’s sound to new sonic heights.

‘Pulling Away From Me’ marks a sea change in HAZMAT’s artistic journey and captures the energy and sonics presented in their recent live performances across the UK. This release is sure to set the stage for a new, more refined era of the group ahead of what will be an explosive set at this year’s FOCUS Wales, where they will be performing on the main stage in support of The Mysterines.

‘Pulling Away From Me’ is available to listen to now across all streaming platforms!

The Kids Are United – April 20th

Since the introduction of social media, many teenagers rarely go anywhere and do not experience live music, hence the future of the industry could eventually die. Many venues are also 18+ preventing teenagers from attending venues. This is a project to try to encourage young people back to live music, while booking venues that allow younger people through the door.

We Believe Music have decided to host a teenage gig ‘The Kids Are United’ at Side Door in Liverpool on April 20th 2pm-7pm. Musicians, promoters etc are invited to attend the show in order to support the future of music in the UK and be there to offer advice to teenagers. Manchester band SHADE recently supported Louis Tomlinson during his tour and have offered to play a full set as well as be there for the duration of the show.

This will be the second The Kids Are United event, the previous was in Manchester, a third hopefully to be hosted in Leeds, to grow the fanbase of our younger musicians which in turn will help them grow and succeed. This really is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians and teenagers who have a love for music!
