Scottish-Italian indie singer-songwriter PG Ciarletta has released his new anthemic, uplifting and energetic new single entitled Until You Get Home, released just before his first Headline show at King Tut’s in Glasgow on July 14.

With a growing following across the UK, PG Ciarletta is the latest singer-songwriter in a long line of Scots with Italian blood making a name for himself, with acknowledgment to the likes of Gerry Cinnamon and The View as some of his biggest influences, PG has alot of similarities in his sound and character to his fellow iconic Scottish artists with his distinctive vocal tone, relatable lyrics, rousing anthemic melodies, cheeky character and undeniable stage prescence.

From writing songs in his bedroom to playing on stages across the UK, the Isle of Wight music festival, and on the pitch and roof of Murrayfield Stadium, a lot has changed for the emerging musician in the last few years. PG was recently featured as a This Feeling Big in 2023 pick, a performer on the closing night of King Tut’s New Year’s Revolution festival supporting Mark Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves, and is now a headliner at the upcoming King Tut’s Summer Nights festival on Friday July 14.

Building on the success of his previous releases, Until You Get Home is a real-life, relatable, anthemic, energetic, and story-telling song, with a relatable narrative, catchy hooks, and a forward-looking prosperous message. The song is warm, ideal for the festival season and summertime, and the chorus is anthemic, perfect for a full crowd sing along. PG Ciarletta can’t wait to perform the song live at his next headline show at King Tut’s, following his first sold out headline show at the SWG3 Poetry Club in Glasgow.

PG Ciarletta said: “I’m buzzing about the release of Until You Get Home, I think as an artist my work is best when it is positive and upbeat, and I love taking any subject/narrative and turning it into a song people can connect with and feel the positivity and energy from my work and feel happy. I feel this is what I do best and I am excited for the next phase of my music and the directions my songs are heading. I love full crowd anthemic singalongs, and I think this song is perfect for it whether it is a headline show or a festival, and cannot wait to play it at King Tut’s.

The reaction to my previous singles and shows have been great, and I feel very grateful my passion has taken me to the pitch and roof of Murrayfield stadium and iconic festivals like Isle of Wight and Country to Country, and now my first headline at King Tut’s! I cannot wait to see what comes next and I am loving every moment along the way.”

The single was produced at the Castle of Doom Studios by Jamie Holmes and co-written with Johnny Madden, Jamie Holmes and Nick Mercer.

Blindness & Light Release Debut Self Titled Album

“If The Smiths were to have a child with Joy Division and Radiohead raised it, the chances are likely it would be Blindness & Light.” – The Other Side Reviews

Inspired by the 80s post-punk movement, Blindness & Light bring the spirit of the era into the modern day with cutting edge production and technical fidelity blended with the artist’s vulnerable and emotive musical style.

The 8-track album is preceded by its two lead singles – The Old Skylight and The Ballad of Them And Us. The Old Skylight – released May 3rd, 2023 – perfectly encapsulates the album’s melancholic soundscape with a moving sound created by the artist and his friends and family enlisted on the track. Blindness & Light’s daughter Elise S. Potter provides the bass, her friend plays the trumpet, and another family friend Helen Reynolds provides the rich backing vocals.

The Ballad of Them And Us – released February 27th, 2023 – brings on former The Christians member Henry Priestman (highest selling Island Record debut album) who plays additional harmonica alongside Colin’s. Henry plays melodica on this track too. He also remixed the single release to create the Ynys Môn mix which is on the album. The song bursts open with powerful harmonica that paves the way for the upbeat and high-energy single that still retains Blindness & Light’s signature style.

The debut album, and Blindness & Light’s musical journey as a whole, is an inspirational story in its own right. Following a devastating hit and run that left the artist for dead, Blindness & Light re-evaluated his life’s direction. Since then he has completed his PhD in environmental biotechnology and now stands on the precipice of his debut album release.

Blindness & Light is also working alongside Mike Juvenile (KEEF) on their side project Radio Psychosis. The band will be releasing their single Television later this year.

Blindness & Light is available across all digital platforms now, available on CD and limited run of 100 vinyl released alongside. Physical copies available on Bandcamp, Mudshark Records, 81 Renshaw St, Liverpool and The Vinyl Exchange, Manchester. Merch available on Amazon worldwide.

Celestial North Releases Debut Album ‘Otherworld’

Celestial North beckons you into her shimmering and ethereal world of spiraling wyrd-pop – a cosmic detour into a land of impossibility and beauty, bathed in folklore. Describing the process of writing Otherworld, Celestial North reveals “I imagined that I was time-traveling through different and exciting worlds. Wandering through the ancient, sacred stone circles at Machrie Moor and then jumping straight into an underground rave in the forest.”

Deeply influenced by her natural surroundings and wild Scottish upbringing, the album was co-recorded and produced with Woody (Sea Power) in the Lake District, creating a stunning tapestry of work that adds a human heart and touch to elements of dream pop, electro-pop, folktronica, gaze, and techno, offering an escape to new realms, adventurous and futuristic, yet with its roots in ancient civilisations of the past. Weaving her self-proclaimed ‘Pagan euphoria’ across eleven startling songs, Otherworld is another marvelous step forward in her artistry and is the product of years of honing and refining her songwriting and sound.
Celestial North announces her debut album ‘Otherworld’ accompanied by the glorious dreamscapes of the life-affirming, lead single and title track released on the 9th of June.

Scottish, Lake District-based artist, Celestial North announces the release of her wonderful debut album Otherworld. Celestial North beckons you into her shimmering and ethereal world of spiraling wyrd-pop – a cosmic detour into a land of impossibility and beauty, bathed in folklore. The lead single and title track Otherworld – is a sublime rush of celestial pop, enveloping tribal rhythms and twinkling instrumentals. Haunting mantras and hymn-like harmonies are bathed in the dawn light, anchored by a repeated refrain “don’t look back and you’ll never feel broken” that’s at once comforting and transportative. Celestial North explains that ‘Otherworld’ is “A rabble-rousing pick-me-up on days when life feels a bit much, a reminder that it will all be ok and that we are never truly alone in this world. Providing the beat and movement of life for us all to shake it off together.”

Describing the process of writing Otherworld, Celestial North reveals “I imagined that I was time-traveling through different and exciting worlds. Wandering through the ancient, sacred stone circles at Machrie Moor and then jumping straight into an underground rave in the forest.”

Premiered by Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music, the single Otherworld follows the success of ‘When The Gods Dance’ which also received airplay from the BBC, Amazing Radio, and various BBC Introducing shows – garnering praise from the likes of Roddy Hart at BBC Radio Scotland, Jim Gellatly of Amazing Radio, and Tom Salmon of BBC Introducing. The gorgeous follow-up ‘The Nature of Light’ received a similar response on radio and online and was featured in Under The Radar and Snack Magazine. The instrumental lushness of ‘Yarrow’ completed a trilogy of releases in 2022.

Celestial North is a talented, multi-faceted musician and songwriter with her songs regularly played on the BBC, Amazing radio and BBC Introducing shows.  Her reworking of R.E.M.’s ‘Nightswimming’ – recorded for a God Is In the TV Zine charity album in 2022, received national radio play with BBC Scotland’s Roddy Hart proclaiming it “Majestic”. The release was included in Bandcamp’s Essential Releases with Nightswimming chosen as the Editorial Director’s personal highpoint. Following a run of early singles, Celestial North was touted by Under The Radar and God Is In The TV as ‘One to watch in 2021’ and one of the ‘finest new acts for 2021’.

Foxsleep Release New Single ‘Fordone’

A brilliant crafter of jazz-tinged indie-folk and alt-rock, Cardiff’s FoxSleep (aka Jason Morgan) has released his new single “Fordone” via Recordiau Pob Lwc.

With live acoustic shows showcasing his intuitive songwriting and ear for the jazzier corners of a melody, FoxSleep’s recorded work demonstrates his aptitude for instrumentation and arrangement. Driven by a gnarled bassline evoking the Knight Rider theme and drums approaching hard rock, Fordone’s blend of acoustic clatter and fizzing electric guitars provides the foundation for vocal melodies that wind around moments of folk, alt-rock and jazz, while violins provide complementary drone, orchestral uplift and harmony.

The song’s take on the consequences of excess moves between candid and deliberately exaggerated: “It’s a song about the things I should do less of,” explains Jason, “bad habits often excused as harmless or normalised as socially acceptable – I can’t decide if I’m worrying over nothing, however, it keeps me awake sometimes.”

Continuing a semi-DIY approach with both self-recorded and remotely performed components, Fordone is the first of a trio of singles scheduled for 2023, mixed by Todd Campbell (of Stompbox Studios and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons). The accompanying artwork by Newport’s George Goom reflects a running conceptual theme of being gradually taken apart.

Following 3 successful DIY EPs, FoxSleep’s 2022 single What It Always Comes Back To received multiple plays on BBC Wales Introducing and was described by Circuit

Sweet as an “anthemic piece of the highest quality… as intense as it is uplifting.”

FoxSleep has performed at well established venues and festivals such as Swansea’s Bunkhouse, Cardiff’s Hub Festival and Clwb Ifor Bach, and Newport’s Le Pub, recently supporting acts such as Ynys, HMS Morris, Apollo Ghosts and Taff Rapids.

FFredi Blino Releases New Album ‘Tarmac Roads and Fences’

Welsh/Aussie indie songster Ffredi Blino is back with a new bunch of melodies and whimsical notions. Following on from his lo-fi lockdown debut The Dishwasher Tapes, the new album features more acoustic, melodic vibes, at times straying into country folk territory but keeping the quirky indie heart beating. It’s all underpinned by the beautiful drum work of Sophie Wozencraft of Manchester’s The Deep Blue.
Singles include ‘Fruitfly’ – a funky love jam for insects, recently featured by Cerys Matthews as her show opener on BBC 6 Music; ‘L’ami de Jacques Renard’ – a surreal French jazz groove with a mind-bending video to match from director Izzy Rabey; and ‘Ffyrdd Tarmac a Ffenses’, aired on BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales.

Unusually, the album features two completely different versions of the same song. Title track ‘Tarmac Roads and Fences’ is a moody & moving contemplation on technology and separation from nature. However, for a BBC Radio Cymru live session, Ffredi decided to reinterpret the song in Welsh, resulting in opener ‘Ffyrdd Tarmac a Ffenses’
