The Royston Club Release Debut Album ‘Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars’

Wrexham band The Royston Club return with their fantastic and eagerly awaited debut album ‘Shaking Hips and Crashing Cars’. With their fresh, upbeat indie rock sound, this album will have you singing along with their highly infectious hook lines. For the fans they have released an exclusive deluxe pink vinyl and very limited bonus 7″ vinyl with three acoustic tracks.

These guys are definitely ones to watch in the years ahead. After only being on the circuit for two years the band have already completed two headline tours selling around 8,000 tickets. They are favourably Supported by BBC 6Music, Radio 1, Radio X, BBC Wales and among others.

The band consists of Tom Faithfull (Lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Ben Matthias (Lead guitar) Sam Jones (Drums), Dave Tute (Bass).

The Royston Club describe the record as “A raw, frenetic crowd of songs, through which you can hear the drunken nights spent screaming our favourite songs at the top of our lungs and the consequent hangovers, each bouncing gig and its dormant green room, the freedom of touring along with the panicked inner nag to get a real job. The brotherly love we have for one another and the burning appetite to make music that we cherish and enjoy.”

“A lot of the lyrical meanings and stories told on our album are very melancholic and bitter, yet the accompanying music is very upbeat and ‘danceable’. I really liked this juxtaposition and the idea of people dancing along to a song about depression so tried to encapsulate that in an album title. The album is a collection of stories and feelings from the past three years of our lives. The late teens and early twenties are frantically transformative for everyone, and these are some cherry-picked moments from our experience of those years.”

Ronda Ray Releases New Single ‘Liar’

Ronda Ray, named 2022 Best International Female Artist by UK–based Radio Wigwam, is an independent roots rock artist who calls Fort Worth, Texas, home – her voice is often compared to some of the most remarkable women in rock ‘n’ roll – Chrissie Hynde, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Nicks.

Writing songs and playing shows, for the last decade, her authentic, gritty, iron cowgirl nature and love of rock ‘n‘ roll contribute to her unique sound with a style inspired by the great rock bands of the 1970s.

Her debut EP was recorded in legendary Muscle Shoals, Alabama at HearTell Studios. “It’s Party Time,“ was released in August 2020 and with it, Ronda wanted to tap into the rich musical heritage and southern rock roots Muscle Shoals is known for. Produced by Grant Walden and featuring Will McFarlane (Bonnie Raitt), Kelvin Holly (Little Richard) and Mark Namore, “It’s Party Time” was released during the worldwide pandemic and promoting it was a challenge. However, Ronda felt it was important to get it out there to give people hope during such hard times. Her decision paid off as tracks were featured on many radio stations as she toured the release throughout Texas, the Southeast and Midwest.

Ronda returned to the road in 2022 with a brand new album produced by three–time Grammy Award winner Gary McGrath. The album was recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios and featured McGrath on guitars and bass, Guyton Sanders on drums, and Dean Minnerly (Three Dog Night and Aretha Franklin) on keys.

This House We Built Release New Single ‘Walk The Line’

Carrying glowing endorsements and reviews from Dave Ling (Classic Rock) – “Immensely promising quartet playing a confident, summery, sometimes funk-fuelled style that will leave you grinning from ear to ear” and Rob Evans (Powerplay Rock & Metal) – “The best independent album I’ve heard this year”, This House We Built are already on rock solid foundations on which to build a successful career in the music scene.

The real bricks and mortar of the band are a heady mix of bands from England’s Scarborough Strip (think Sunset Strip but with less debauchery, more chips and an untapped resource of talent since five Little Angels flew big in 88’).

Players Scott Wardell (vocals guitar), Andy Jackson (guitars vocals), Oz Ward (drums vocals) and Wayne Dowkes White (bass) finally came together just prior to the world shutting down in 2020.

Rather than dwell on not being able to bring their collective talents to the stage, they started the socially distanced writing sessions that bought the plot for the house they were about to build.  Each man brought a different musical path to the band, and you can hear them all as the album unfolds.  Eclectic influences ranging from classic rock, funk, emo, nu-metal and melodic rock are mixed perfectly across the ten songs and brick by harmony laden brick they build a unique sound that transcends all the aforementioned genres.

The house is a veritable musical mansion and when you add in stellar song writing that is equally at home penning stadium anthems as they are challenging difficult life situations such as depression, alcoholism, and Alzheimer’s you start to realise ‘This House We Built’ are not simply here to rent, they are a long-term musical mortgage investment.

The band are keeping very busy and have several festivals planned up and down the country this year, they are also halfway through writing their second album.

They are also set to release their new Craft Beer in May titled ‘This Beer We Built’ this will also be making an appearance at festivals up and down the country, the idea with this is to help fund their second album, the more folks drink the more recording time we get! everyone’s a winner 😉

Of the song:
This is a song that probably took us the longest to get over the line musically, it was written in the summer of 2021. Lyrically it’s a song I wrote about that feeling you get when you meet someone and you feel that chemistry, that vibe. That Zing, you can’t put your finger on it, but you lock eyes, you feel the energy and that chemistry, the butterflies, a rumble in the under carriage;-) Scott.

For fans of:

Classic Rock, General Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Kings X, Extreme, Mr Big, Anthrax, Megadeth, Those Damn Crows, Metallica, Journey, Winery Dogs, Ozzy, Iron Maiden

In their own words:

We’ve all been on the scene some years with other bands, and we’ve come out of the blue with this band but have been waiting all our lives for this moment in time. Our music comes from many musical tastes, we have an underlying Classic Rock vibe but as you’ll hear there’s a modern edge to our sound which we think makes us a little different to what’s happening now – Scott.

The West Order Release New Single ‘Girl Without A Name’

The exciting four-piece rock band The West Order return with their triumphant second single, ‘Girl Without A Name’. Hailing from Prestwick in Scotland, the band turned heads with their debut release ‘Falling Down’ which led to The West Order playing headline shows as well as finishing off 2022 playing at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

This new single, ‘Girl Without A Name’ was written back in 2017 by the band’s vocalist and guitarist Dylan and since then The West Order have been tweaking the song as a unit. Of course, a couple of years of a global pandemic stunted the band’s momentum but now they are set to realise their ambitions with this frankly incredible new single.

About ‘Girl Without A Name’ the band said:  “..it’s a little bit different to our other tunes, it’s a bit softer in the verses with a light floaty guitar riff over an acoustic guitar which then smashes into a heavy chorus with loud guitars and tight drum fills…almost Nirvana-esque.”

Both this new single ‘Girl Without A Name’ and The West Orders’ debut single ‘Falling Dawn’ appear on their upcoming ‘All Is Mine’ EP which is out on May the 25th. The band are to play a special hometown show at The Buf in Prestwick on June the 3rd.

The West Order are Dylan (vocals and guitar), Cammy (guitar), Daniel (drums) and Darren (bass and vocals). Meeting while at school, Daniel, Dylan and Darren were joined by Cammy in 2021. Their influences range from The Beatles to Green Day to The Snuts.

The Shed Project Release New Single ‘Our Fear Is Their Power’

Following their last melodic masterpiece for mental health organisation WHYSUP, Bolton band The Shed Project are back with balls, with Rock ’n’ Roll Bells on. The fantastic new single Our Fear Is Their Power is out now across all streaming platforms.

Described by vocalist Roy Fletcher as a song about the lies and corruption of the establishment and the main stream media, it signals a return to the hard indie edged sounds of yesteryear with The Shed Project and their unique modern 2023 twist.

Smooth rolling toms, Machine gun snare beats, Swirling guitar lines and beautiful rolling bass lines all compliment the strong vocal delivery advocating Power to the People. The song is taken from their second Album due for release in October which has been recorded in their hometown, Bolton. Produced by Danny Heyes at the Ivy Studio marks the bands development evolving into one the most sought-after live acts in the UK. Catch one of their confirmed Live appearances this summer at the Right to Roam & Made In Manchester festivals.
