The brilliant Four piece Indie Rock Band hailing from Glasgow are back with their latest single ‘Hear The Truth’. This high energy song is serious rock n’ roll with significant, relatable lyrics and a 90’s nostalgic feel. These are definitely a band to watch on the independent music scene!
The band consists of Shaun Kenny (Vocals, rhythm guitar), Mark Devlin (Lead guitar), Ross McDonald (Bass) and Pete Cannon (Drums).
They have been featured on John Kennedy’s X-posure show on Radio X. The band are playing the Recovery Connects Festival this year plus even more exciting gigs throughout the year.
Her music has garnered support from BBC Introducing and received airplay on BBC Radio Wales. Notably, ‘silence + space’ was featured in the March ‘Round-Up’ of best tracks of this year so far on Klust Music’s website. Lila Zing is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Wales. Not only does she craft all of her music from start to finish, including mixing and mastering, but she also uses a tuning frequency of 432hz for all of her songs.
The song’s powerful message about the importance of finding peace and clarity amidst the chaos of the world will stay with listeners long after the song is over. The simplicity of the song will evoke feelings of reflection, contemplation and serenity, inviting the listeners to take a step back and appreciate the beauty of silence and space. Silence and space can be incredibly important for personal growth and wellness. They provide an opportunity to disconnect from external distractions and to focus internally, allowing individuals to gain a better understanding of themselves and to reflect on their thoughts and feelings.
After months of gigging all around South Wales, recording, writing and building their fanbase, The 8:48 have released their debut EP Now In A Minute.
The rock band consists of Kyle Bellamy, Dylan Hooper, Harrison Ollier and Dylan Clarke, ageing from just 14 to 18. The 8:48 has proven they mean business, releasing their first two singles last year and now they are going for the next level with this collection of new songs.
Dylan Hooper, the band’s bassist, pianist and the producer of the EP, talked about the process of creating the project.
“It’s essentially two years of work starting from the initial writing process all the way to the final mixing adjustments. But I’m proud of us for how far we’ve come and, on a personal note, I’m pretty proud of myself to have produced an EP.”
Lead guitarist Harrison Ollier, said: “I can’t wait for people to hear it, I love all of the songs so I’m excited to hear what everyone’s favourite is. I definitely have a favourite though, but you don’t get to know which song yet you’ll have to wait for it come out!”
Drummer Dylan Clarke, who recently made the last 40 contestants in the Young Drummer of the Year competition, said: “It’s taken hours and hours of recording, but I’ve really enjoyed making this EP. As much work as it took, it’s a very rewarding process to be able to hear a finished, radio ready collection of songs at the end of it.”
The EP comes off the back of the band having a very successful streak of gigging, playing in Cardiff, Swansea, all around the Vale and even Cwmaman. The most notable performance came at the start of December when the four boys performed a set in St David’s Hall as part of the annual Christmas Showcase with Cardiff County and Vale of Glamorgan Music Service.
Frontman Kyle said: “Playing in St David’s Hall was unreal. The sound of songs that I wrote in my back garden filling the venue was something else. Never in a million years did I think anyone apart from us four and a few others would hear them.”
“It felt like a fever dream to be honest, it just went so quickly. But performing in front of 2,000 people was special, it’s not something I’ll forget anytime soon!”
Now in a Minute, the debut EP from The 8:48, is out now on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and more.
South Wales four piece The Now release another fantastic brand new single ‘Girl You Got Me’, via Trew Music, ahead of the release of their debut album later this year. The song is accompanied by the release of a new music video.
Recorded at Real World Studios and produced by Grammy Award winning Oli Jacobs, who has previously worked with Harry Styles and The 1975, Girl You Got Me tells the story “When you believe you’re set not to fall in love again after previous heartaches, that one person comes around and catches you while you’re weak and brings you back to your feet – But at the same time you’re on your knees caught up in love !”
In 2021, the band’s single, ‘Dr Jones’ managed to start their rise to success with it featuring on BBC Radio 2 – The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker and also numerous plays on Planet Rock with Wyatt featuring the track on his show “The New Rock Show”. Not long after the release of Friendly Fire, they were contacted by BBC Introducing Wales presenter “Adam Walton” to air ‘Friendly Fire’ on the station.
The first single, ‘Holy’ from the band’s debut EP in 2022 gained a huge amount of airplay around the globe. Apart from plays on BBC and numerous independent stations in the UK, it was “The Coolest Song in the World” for a week in Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius XM across North America. Further singles from the EP ‘Shoot Them Down’ and ‘Rockstar’ continued the success garnering swathes of airplay.
This year has seen the first single (Devil Inside Me) from the album once again picked as “Coolest Song In The World” in Little Steven’s Underground Garage Sirius XM show as well as Track of the Week on Planet Rock !
Having just recently supported Reef and Florence Black. The Now are on a mission to leave no head left unturned and one can be sure, this is only the beginning for The Now, with their debut album and festival performances already lined up 2023.
The Now consists of: Shane Callaghan on Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocals, Will Scott on Drums, Callum Bromage on Guitar & Vocals and Jay Evans on Bass Guitar & Vocals
Cardiff based groove and funk band Lemongel release new single ‘Some Nights I Win’ from their upcoming EP. This unique track is melodic with a chill out vibe.
Some nights I win, Sometimes nights I lose, Though we always end it in the room…
She asks why, And I say who, Wouldn’t fall in love with someone like you
The band say of the song:
“The lyrics for this song hit very close to the heart, extracting the essence of a relationship. Full of hardship and insecurity. Full of the best and worst moments, it can be a rollercoaster or an empty room with two people. A song about wanting the balance but struggling to find. An intense melodic ride with a vulnerable Dionysian base. This song was written reflecting back on a difficult experience, under a new light. The pandemic helped fuel this new way of looking at things, to look forward rather than backwards, and this too is reflected in the song as none of it would have been achieved without accepting the outcome and moving on.
Their song will be showcased on the 26th April at The Flora, Cardiff and on the 29th April at All Roads Festival!
MARPLES are the young Sheffield based indie rock band consisting of Joseph Neville on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Thomas Martin on lead guitar, Joseph Kneale on bass guitar and Luke Fieldsend on drums.
Formed in August 2021, the band started life by performing at local open mic nights. Realising they were onto something special, they then spent time perfecting their sound by gigging as much as possible and enjoying some prolific support slots as well as their own sold out headline shows at the likes of Network Sheffield.
In 2022, MARPLES took the decision to release their first official music into the world in the form of their ‘In The Attic’ EP which comprised the tracks ‘One For Their Own’, ‘Once More’, Misled’, and ‘Misfortune’. Both ‘Once More’ and ‘One For Their Own’ were picked up by Sheffield Wednesday FC and were played to the crowds during matches at the world famous Hillsborough Football Stadium.
MARPLES are now excited to be gearing up for the release of their follow up single ‘I’ve Been Shown’
It is a jointly composed track which is heavily inspired and incorporates the band members’ wide range of musical influences. The 3.34 min upbeat indie track is filled with jangly guitars and fast paced yet harmonised vocals from the get go leading effortlessly into the catchy chorus hook lines, which simply belt out that this is a classic indie anthem of epic proportions!
The band have said of the inspiration of behind the track:
“From first hearing the track in the early days from when we were writing it, I had the melody already in my head. I wanted to make the riff catchy to really make it stand out, so I decided to make the sound of the guitar more sustained, giving it more punch…. The meaning of the track is really all about the journey we’re on as a band and the trials we’re on as we try to make it to the next level. There’s always going to be someone trying to pull you down and tell you you’re wasting your time, but you’ve got to persevere and hopefully with any luck you’ll get the last laugh.”
FOR FANS OF: The Who / Husker Du / The Jam / Badfinger / XTC / 60ft Dolls / Teenage Fanclub / Ride
The Immediate are a mod-ish, guitar-fuelled, power pop three-piece from Mold in north Wales.
To celebrate 30 years since our first release as The Immediate, They have compiled a C90’s worth of our best moments. ‘Mold Box Set – Wide Misses and Purple Flashes’ features highlights from our earliest years as well as recordings from our more recent albums, 2017’s ‘Manbuoy’ and 2018’s ‘More Sheep Than Humans’.
The compilation is available as a limited edition cassette (in the tradition of the original ‘The Boy Who Tried To Change The World’ tape from 1993) on bandcamp, and as a digital download / stream from all of the usual platforms.
The songs have been played on 6Music, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Wales and on a number of other excellent radio stations and programmes around the world.
This is the back catalogue of a band who unintentionally evaded every zeitgeist like pre-topknot Gareth Bale evaded the Milan defence. By the time Britpop slid in, we’d already been ripping off Waterloo Sunset for half a decade.
The band were always more in thrall to The Real People than they were to Oasis. They supported Stereophonics the night they were signed to V2 Records, and did nothing to stop it. Played Mansun’s debut album launch party at the Stakis Casino on the Isle of Man, confusing the gathered crowd who asked why they hadn’t played ‘Wide Open Space’ as we shuffled off stage.
Never made it to Camden, but we were massive in Crewe. For one spring / summer in St Tropez they were almost proper pop stars: not bad for dole kids from Mold, north Wales.
Adam Walton says: “There are reasons for our lack of success; so many near miss / one-that-got-away stories, but they’re stories for another time. This is a collection of our tunes, and – if we had anything right – it was our tunes. Unironic, heart-on-sleeve, power pop anthems wrought from our love of All Mod Cons, The Who Sell Out and Ride’s first two albums.
If you love The Who / Husker Du / The Jam / Badfinger / XTC / 60ft Dolls / Teenage Fanclub / Ride there will be music here you will like, and hopefully love.
The story stretches from our first UK release in 1993 to our most recent recordings, last year. The fact that it all sounds like the same band – whether it’s the pre-Suede nocturnal psychodrama of 1993’s ‘Praying For Sunshine’ or the fierce, tight, tuney thunder of this year’s ‘Divide’ – is a matter of some pride to us.
We never sold out, probably because no one was buying, but the fact remains.”
ANOTHER DAY are the teenage cousins, who are set to explode onto the music scene like only the rawness of youth can… you expect catchy, powerful, self-penned 90’s influenced punk, britpop, mod-indie rock n roll tunes, high energy stage shows, and… back flips. They are a young, but serious outfit: the mature writing skills of singer/guitarist Louis are backed by a bullet proof rhythm section (brother Jonte on bass and Harley on drums), which kicks cousin Charlie‘s scorching lead guitar eagerly to the forefront.
To date the band have released two previous singles ‘Quicksand’ (27 October 2022) and ‘The College Song’ (December 2022) both of which have helped to create a real buzz surrounding the boys, from fans and industry peers alike.
With their fresh, authentic spark and jaw dropping live shows, a string of further new singles already in the pipeline recorded at The Libertines’ HQ; The Albion Rooms, and Louis’ background as a world class freestyle sports athlete, Another Day are connecting the dots between a new era of British rock and the extreme sports world.
The band are now gearing up for their most explosive single to date; ‘A Sticky Situation’.
With its straight off the bat, high octane, fast, furious fuzzing guitars and drums mixed with the rasping almost shouty vocals, this track is a slice of pure punk raw energy. It’s a track to make you want to jump around and feel alive. It’s absolutely buzzing with a feel good vibe and before you know it you’ll be chanting along to ‘A Sticky Situation’ at the top of your lungs!
So, what are you waiting for? let loose and seize the moment that this track is offering on each and every level!
Louis’ has said of the track:
“When I wrote this I was looking to come up with a tune that was kinda unlike anything we had done before. The song came pretty easily, the only real issue was struggling to find a fitting topic for the lyrics. So I called up Charlie and said “Hey, I got this song but have nothing to write about, can you give me a topic?” He instantly replied “We get ourselves into enough of these… What about ‘a sticky situation’?”. With that prompt all the lyrics just fell into place. We wanted to go for a really raw and punky sound on this one, which is how we play it live.”
‘A Sticky Situation’ was recorded at The Libertines HQ, The Albion Rooms Studio in Margate and was mixed and engineered by Jason Stafford and mastered by Graham Waller.
UPCOMING GIGS

08 May – Battle Of The Bands Final, The Ship, Gillingham
29 May – The Halfway House Beer and Music Festival
There’s something about the volatile power struggle between two brothers and the two acting peace makers that just make a band work. Together since 2014, The Landed make classic, air-punching guitar driven rock. The kind of songs you write when you’ve grown up loving all the right records.
Brothers David and Paul Hale have played in bands together from the young ages of 9 and 10 years old, but a conversation in a local pub with guitarist Dan Currie and the poaching of bassist Paul Jannece from another band formed The Landed, a line up which has stood the test of time.
Taken from their upcoming EP Caballero is their new single Rage For The Machine. The song is noticeably heavier than previous tracks by the band, as it was written by drummer David Hale, who is influenced more by heavy metal bands.
Junior Bill, the ‘21st Century Joe Strummer’, spins a tale of post-Brexit isolation in dub-pop anthem ‘TEETH’
After the roaring success of Junior Bill’s first 2023 single ‘Boys From Jungle’ – praised, played and playlisted worldwide – then the mournfully and politically-loaded follow-up ‘Flag of St George’ comes the third Junior Bill single of the year. ‘Teeth’ is a melancholic reggae number about a lonely, isolated society where sugar passes for joy and life stays stagnant around a tiny cul-de-sac in post-Brexit Britain.
Junior Bill is the project of Cardiff songwriter Robert Nichols – acclaimed as ‘a 21st Century Joe Strummer’ by BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson earlier this year. The group have found support both locally in their home country of Wales as well as internationally on radio and press in Australia, Spain, Brazil and Canada. Turning debut album ‘Youth Club!’ into a series of singles released over the course of the year, has shown a broad range of reggae, psych, indie and blues that has a core element of storytelling about pressing and urgent politicised life.
The songs of Junior Bill reach into the lives of others in an unusually empathic way, whilst still remaining extremely “singable”. Gigwise said “it’s a political maturity set against a childlike honesty that makes Junior Bill so intriguing.” ‘Teeth’ tells the story of an elderly woman who can’t stop eating sweets, living a lonely life in a Truman Show-style world where people “live and work and die” all in one isolated neighbourhood. It’s all somewhat reminiscent of Britain’s increasingly claustrophobic societal atmosphere. This toy-town is recreated in the song’s video, a naive stop-motion animation made by Junior Bill and his friends. The track deals with themes of isolation, the loneliness of ageing, our increasing inability as a nation to care for the vulnerable, as well as the song’s main hook singing of the both immediate and deeper long-term need for the country’s national healthcare.
In the live music scene Junior Bill have made a lasting impression, opening for Supergrass during their reunion shows after a supporting tour with drummer Danny Goffey, then last year making their debut at Glastonbury Festival. The band returned to their hometown of Cardiff in January to a packed out show, and have a series of dates to come throughout the UK whilst releasing more singles and then the debut album ‘Youth Club!’ before the end of the year.
