Sunkisst Release New Self Titled Album

Sunkisst are a 4 piece band hailing from the North East of Scotland.

RYZY (Ryan Mackay) and Freddy (Kieran Mitchell) met while playing in Kyle Falconer’s (The View) solo band.

The two began sharing demos and decided to embark on a new project, each bringing together their closest musical allies Jack Franklin and Robbie Young

The variety of inspirations between the 4 was clear from the very beginning, producing a sound that echoes that of an old school rock n’ roll vibe with a modern twist. As a group of multi-instrumentalists the group arrangement varies from track to track with different members taking on the lead role and switching instruments, providing a captivating experience for any audience.

RYZY is perhaps best known for his DJ and Producer works previously having reached no. 3 on the Billboard Breakout Chart and no. 31 on Billboard USA (where he spent 9 weeks on the chart) and most recently for his collaboration with the Still Game and Chewin’ The Fat Star Ford Kieran (whom Kyle Falconer introduced to one another at his songwriting camp in Spain; ‘La Sierra Casa’ ) for the dance track ‘Coffee Man’.

‘Coffee Man’ was well received earning RYZY coverage across the press including, The Daily RecordThe Scottish Sun, The HeraldThe CourierThe Independent, The Standard and on Scottish TV.

RYZY’s latest project Sunkisst are now set to release their self-titled debut album on the 29th March, the first single from which ‘Amplifier’ will also be released on the same day. The track was initially part of a previous project that RYZY and producer Ryan Enockson were working on remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic and was originally penned by RYZY, Kyle Falconer (The View) and Matthew Hickman (Brownbear).

The track was completed when Sunkisst headed out to Bryan Adams Warehouse Studio in Vancouver to record their debut record. ‘Amplifier’ was in fact a last minute change out by Producer Ryan Enockson. Ryan suggested the band switch out the  track ‘Nothing To Hide’ for ‘Amplifier’ to give the record more edge, challenging the band who had never played it before to track it live. After 32 takes they had it!

The lyrics weave a tale of love’s complexities, the challenges of maintaining integrity within a relationship, and the inevitable realisation that sometimes, despite best efforts, love alone is not enough to overcome personal flaws and mutual grievances. The use of ‘Amplifier’ as a metaphor for the voice and true emotions underscores the power of honesty and communication, suggesting that these elements are essential for understanding and possibly reconciling the relationship’s inherent contradictions.

‘Amplifier’ was tracked at Bryan Adams, Warehouse Studio in Vancouver BC, was Recorded, Produced and Mixed by: Ryan Enockson (Michael Bublé, Bryan Adams, Motley Crüe, Mumford & Sons, Dolly Parton, Muse, Richie Sambora). Studio Engineer: Annie Kennedy Mastered by: Robin Sutherland, Esko Mastering, Finland and is being released on Sound Town Records.

The Rah’s Release New Single ‘Blood For Gold’

Hailing from East Lothian, Scotland, THE RAH’S unveil their new single ‘Blood For Gold’ released via their
own EH32 Records with digi distribution by Emu Bands. ‘Blood For Gold’ is the first taster of the quintet’s second album, THE COMMON GROUND, for which they have a vinyl release with Assai records, a limited release with Blood Records and vinyls being made by the first Scottish vinyl pressing plant Seabass Vinyl.

THE RAH’S formed in 2020 in East Lothian, Scotland and released their debut LP in 2021. After a deliberate radio silence they are back, grown up, angry and focused on their goal of becoming an alternative rock sensation. After success from their self/crowd-funded debut album WHEN DOES IT BECOME REAL? with the singles ‘Time Is Now’, ‘If You Never Try’ and ‘She’s Not’ being played on BBC Radio 1, Radio X, KROQ, RTE 2FM amongst others, now, they’re getting serious with album number two. THE COMMON GROUND. As you’d hope and expect it’s rammed with all the emotional baggage and catharsis of modern life. This new record is the sound of a band having grown up, moved on and aren’t afraid to show their influences, while taking aim on all things mainstream. THE COMMON GROUND is set for release on 12th April 2024, followed by a tour of the UK taking their new sound up and down the country. The band have already supported some huge artists, at the iconic Barrowlands and O2 Academy Leeds, playing Isle of Wight
and YNot Festival, and sold-out back to back headline UK tours.

Of the new single band frontman Jack says, “ For us this track is the driving force of the album. The main reason being the lyrics. Blood For Gold is written about the life of being in an unsigned band and all the harsh realities that come with it. “It looks good from the outside…” relates to the tough times of being musicians and the perspective of others looking in. Everyone will find their own persona meaning in the lyrics, but this track will undoubtedly resonate with all those underground artists putting their blood sweat and tears into their projects, and the hard work we have put in screams throughout this track”.

Yama Rama Release New Single ‘Influencers Must Die’

One of Scotland’s best kept musical secrets, Charlie Clark is a multi-talented singer /songwriter, musician, and more. First rising to prominence as a founding member of acclaimed Glasgow indie-pop foursome Astrid, Charlie has been a pro-active presence in the underground music scene for over two decades. From his role in Scottish supergroup The Reindeer Section to his own projects Broken Arrow and MJ12, Clark has earned a cult status amongst public and peers alike, becoming a go-to guest musician to the likes of Mogwai, Arab Strap and Snow Patrol in the process.

Charlie Clark spent some time recording music as a solo artist in 2021 releasing several tracks under renowned  music mogul, Alan McGee’s Creation Records label.

After reforming Astrid for some new music and a whistlestop tour at the beginning of 2022, 2023 sees Charlie Clark revved up with a new found passion and a rediscovered purpose to start making the music again that he loves the most. Charlie is ready to bare his soul with his brand new band project YAMA RAMA. With Bob Dylan Influenced vocals and The Cure style riffs, Yama Rama’s songs are personal, honest and raw, like they are springing straight from the pages of a diary. The band’s aim is to let you into their emotional state and let their listeners know that they too are not alone in their darkest days and that love is ever present.

Yama Rama is made up of Charlie Clark on lead vocals and guitar, Christopher James Johnston on Vocals and Guitar, Mark Makay on Bass and Billy Hudson on Drums.

Having recently signed to the ever expanding Bubblebrain Records last month, Yama Rama are now gearing up for the release of their debut single on the label entitled ‘Influencers Must Die’

‘Influencers Must Die’ is a tongue in cheek title to a song that looks at the society in which we live where so many are seemingly influenced to do, say or buy things because a paid influencer tells them to do so or as so many musicians seem to be doing these days focusing more on the social media stats than the music itself, turning themselves into comedy actors on the likes of TikTok in the hope to influence people to listen to their music rather than promoting their music. Influencers Must Die is a track that sets to redress the balance and to keep it all about the music.

With fuzzing guitars and fast paced drumming coupled with determined vocals breaking down into chanting, rousing chorus hook lines, Influencers Must Die is an extremely catchy tune that will resonate with many and will no doubt only seek to further cement Charlie Clark and Yama Rama into their musical cult-like status.

Charlie has said of the single himself:

“Influencers Must Die” is a response to the obsessive nature of social media and its effects on everyone, including myself.  It’s tongue is firmly in its cheek but it’s hard to know if I’d feel the same way about The Velvet Underground or The Doors if they were sharing every mundane aspect of their life on TikTok…….

I love the mystique about a lot of the music I listen to. It’s simply about the music and not personality overload.”

Influencers Must Die was recorded and produced by Jason Shaw (Cambodian Space Project) at Fuzzface studios in Largs.

Celestial North Releases New Single ‘Olympic Skies’

Following the release of Celestial North’s wonderful debut album Otherworld in July, an ethereal world of dreamy pop escapism co-produced with Woody (formerly of Sea Power) and described by Prog Magazine as ‘An instant joy. Ethereal, haunting and with a beauty shrouded by mystery’

Celestial North returns with the beguiling ‘Olympic Skies‘ where sighing harmonies drape over stately pianos and tip toeing rhythms. Olympic Skies is one of the most accessible moments on her debut album ‘Otherworld’: described by Celestial North as ‘a breakup song between the land and modern man’, a hymn connecting humanity, deep spirituality and the history of the land sent spiraling into the sky.

Olympic skies follows the lead single ‘Otherworld’ as premiered by Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music which, alongside previous singles ‘When The Gods Dance’ and ‘The Nature of Light’, received airplay from the BBC, Amazing Radio, and various BBC Introducing shows and featured in various online and in-print magazines and blogs receiving glowing reviews from Prog Magazine, The Skinny, God Is in The TV,  Under The Radar and Snack Magazine. The instrumental lushness of ‘Yarrow’ is described by Prog Magazine as ‘sharing a sensibility with Yann Tiersen’ through ‘twinkling pianos, sweeping vocals and a comforting sense of weirdness.’  A reworking of R.E.M.’s ‘Nightswimming‘ received national radio play with BBC Scotland’s Roddy Hart proclaiming it “Majestic”. The release was included in Bandcamp’s Essential Releases with Nightswimming chosen as the Editorial Director’s personal highpoint.

Deeply influenced by her natural surroundings and wild Scottish upbringing, the album was co-recorded and produced with Woody (Sea Power) in the Lake District, creating a stunning tapestry of work that adds a human heart and touch to elements of dream pop, electro-pop, folktronica, gaze, and techno, offering an escape to new realms, adventurous and futuristic, yet with its roots in ancient civilisations of the past. Weaving her self-proclaimed ‘Pagan euphoria’ across eleven startling songs, Otherworld is another marvelous step forward in her artistry and is the product of years of honing and refining her songwriting and sound. Describing the process of writing Otherworld, Celestial North reveals “I imagined that I was time-traveling through different and exciting worlds. Wandering through the ancient, sacred stone circles at Machrie Moor and then jumping straight into an underground rave in the forest.”

She Burns Red Releases New Single ‘Crosshairs’

HOPETRUST and HUMANITY are not just words, it’s everything we’re fighting for, it’s everything we are”.

Scottish rock outfit She Burns Red are the “truth” when it comes to gritty feral infused slabs of hard crunching rhythms and standard flying rock anthems.
Riffs go wild, melodies are plentiful and make no mistake, She Burns Red are potential game changers.

Vocalist/Guitarist Andy Moore & Vocalist/Bassist James McCulloch have been the two constant members and after a few line-up changes She Burns Red solidified with the additions of Scott Hanlon (ex-Anchor Lane) on Drums and Lead Guitarist, Naz (an Italian living in Edinburgh) in 2020.

Their Toby Jepson (Little Angels/Wayward Sons) produced Take Back Tomorrow EP gained the interest of Raz White, and as soon as covid lockdown ended, they struck a management deal that would see the band become the talk of the UK live music scene over the next 12 – 18 months.

Performing at Call of the Wild Festival, Rockwich, Rockmantic Weekender, Winter Rocks & most recently Love Rocks Festival in Bournemouth, not forgetting, supports to Wayward Sons, Black Spiders, Florence Black, Mason Hill, South of Salem & Trucker Diablo in Northern Ireland, this combo lives for the road, meeting fans and creating amazing memories for all who get involved.

Quote about the song:

Crosshairs speaks of bad relationships and how they can affect you. Looking towards hope when all around you seems lost. It is far too easy to lose sight of what you have and blame others for what is happening to you when sometimes the answer to the question of what is wrong is yourself. (James)

Words written by Andy, music by She Burns Red. We previously recorded a version with Toby Jepson for our last EP, but the song has taken on new life since then with the addition of Naz and Scott. We felt it was right for updating.

Dictator Release New Single ‘Enough Is Enough’

Vocalising support for strike action and pushing back against the political elite, the Scottish four-piece’s dynamic new track is out now.

Edinburgh-based Dictator have released their latest indie-pop anthem, Enough is Enough, a track dedicated to “those of us who have been told we are worth less and should work more” by corrupt politicians and powerful corporations. The four-piece, comprising vocalist Micheal Campbell, guitarist Zach Tarimo Goodhur, bassist Joe Murty, and drummer Allan Ramsay, bring inspiring lyrics to their unique sound, creating a soon-to-be indie classic that will set crowds alight during their up-coming UK tour.

After meeting at school in Livingston over a decade ago, the friends came together in small studios simply seeking solace in shared jam sessions, but soon turned their creative release into the boundary-bulldozing Dictator in 2019. Producing colossal sing-alongs for the masses, the foursome have since garnered a dedicated fan based around Scotland and beyond, even winning Best Rock/Alternative Band at the SAMA (Scottish Alternative Music Awards) in 2021, and reaching the final four of BBC Introducing’s prestigious Scottish Act of the Year in 2022.

Now, Enough is Enough, makes a statement with standout lyrics that will not only have fans singing along, but convey an important message to the political elite. As the foursome put it: “We are not a political band, but we believe that if you have something to say then you should say it and do so with your chest.
“For as long as memory serves, corrupt politicians and powerful corporations have made decisions on behalf of the many to benefit the few. They have manipulated mainstream media to divide the
majority and polarise the population.

“However, over the last 12 months there has been a small glimmer of hope – the strike action movement. The power has always been with the people, and as we began to see some push back, we felt it right to vocalise our support in the only way we know how – through our music.” Expressing solidarity with the overworked and underpaid, the overwhelmed and undervalued, the overlooked and under appreciated, this new track has the band’s signature sound, inspired by the likes of fellow genre-defiers Gorrilaz, Glass Animals and Alt-J among others. Over the next three months, Dictator will bring their sumptuous synths, bone-shaking basslines, brash beats and playful-cum-tender lyricism to some of the UK’s best venues, including Glasgow’s Oran Mor on Friday, November 3.

‘Enough Is Enough’ is exciting, pure nostalgia. Dictator are on the rise with their non-stop indie anthems, with each new track they just keep getting better and better! The band’s bold and audacious style has brought a growing, loyal fanbase, as well as celebrity endorsement from A-list actor Robert Carlyle, bestselling author Ian Rankin, and former Radio 1 DJ Phil Taggart, and supporting slots with Scottish icons like The Fratelli’s, Glasvegas and The Reytons.

Friday, September 8 – Liverpool, Jacaranda
Friday, September 22 – London, The Water Rats
Friday, September 29 – Birmingham, Dead Wax
